Activities at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.

Celia Palmer

Activity Coordinator

I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont.  I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting.  I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here.  I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

Life at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

Residents enjoy pottery session

Residents showed their artistic flair during a pottery session with Sue from Creative Mojo. There was a splash of colour everywhere as residents enjoyed painting their ‘frogs’ which can be used as small plant pot, pen holder to name a few – what would you use yours for? There’s nothing more liberating than a blank page to unleash someone’s creative side and everyone was delighted with their finished frogs!

World Cruise

Residents and colleagues at Edgbaston Beaumont enjoyed an afternoon on singing and dancing as they welcomed popular entertainer, Gerry Graham to the home to perform live.

Gerry is a popular entertainer with over 45-years’ experience and residents were treated to his ‘World Cruise’ performance – as Captain Gerry and the Good Ship Showtime took everyone on a good humoured trip around the world, with some visual effects to help the fun along. With songs like Sea Cruise, Beyond the Sea, Slow boat to China, That’s Amore, South of the Border, New York, New York, and even a visit to the Old Bazaar in Cairo, there is a lot on the menu!

Pony therapy

Residents of Edgbaston Beaumont were surprised to see two little visitors at the home as they welcomed miniature ponies for a therapy session.

Animal therapy encourages a calming environment and enables the residents to create new memories. The session proved very popular and the home are exploring new pets to visit!

Garden project

Did you know that we have accessible and beautifully landscaped gardens? Our extensive grounds offer residents the opportunity to take part in seasonal gardening activities with our gardening clubs.

Here at Edgbaston Beaumont we are a team and General Manager, Sarah was delighted to get involved and armed with the jet wash started cleaning the paving!

Landmark 70th wedding anniversary

Bob and Jean met at ballroom dancing classes 71 years ago and started their married life in Basingstoke, Hampshire, marrying 70 years ago on the 25th July.

Bob started work at the Weights and Measures in the Civil Service but quickly moved to the Trustee Savings Bank where with bank colleagues Bob and Jean started Scottish Country dancing.  After five years Bob realised that in order to progress in the Bank he was going to have to move to London and for the next twenty years they lived in South London where he alternated between being a Manager and being an Inspector with the bank.

Dogs Trust

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
