Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Edingley Lodge Care Home

Elf Day
We recognised Alzheimer's Society Elf day here at Edingley Lodge, Both residents and staff embraced the festive spirit, The home was filled with energy and joy, There was dancing, sing and a real festive spirit in the home.
people across the UK dress up as elves to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Society.

Christmas Jumper Day
All residents and staff at Edingley Lodge were encouraged to buy, borrow or decorate their own special Christmas jumpers and donate to Save the Children. Some of the residents have been very creative and decorated their own glitzy knitwear with tinsel, stars, baubles and snowflakes. To celebrate the day in true festive style Edingley Lodge welcomed St Michaels church Farnsfield choir group to sing to all the residents.
Although it is a special time of year for children and adults alike to get into the Christmas spirit, the day is much more about jumpers. Since 2012, Save the Children has organised the day each year to encourage people to raise money to support the charity's mission of helping children facing war, hunger and poverty.

Christmas lights switch on
Residents, staff, friends & families had a great evening during our Christmas lights switch on, We were joined by BBC East Midlands weatherman Rob Rose who kindly done the honours of switching our Christmas lights on and gave a great speech, We had live entertainment from singer Russell Weaver, Who got everyone singing and dancing. It truly was a wonderful festive atmosphere! It was a joy to see everyone come together, enjoying mince pies and mulled wine while celebrating the start of the holiday season.
Displaying lights during Christmas predates the holiday itself. It started in Scandinavian countries to brighten up Winter Solstice to turning night into day. They did it with Yule logs, bon fires and candles. Early Christian adopted this pagan tradition without fear of persecution.
