Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Happy St David's Day

St David is the patron saint of Wales and he is celebrated on the 1st March. To mark the day, Welsh people around the world wear one or both of Wales's national emblems – a daffodil and a leek. Patron saints are chosen to be special protectors or guardians over all areas of life!

Our residents & staff celebrated the day by baking Welsh cakes & enjoyed scrumptious leek & bacon risotto made by our fantastic chef,

Residents also decorated their own vases and filled them with beautiful Daffodils, They all thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Talents at Edingley Lodge

It's so lovely to be able to support residents so that they can continue with their hobbies or even have a go at something new when they move into the home.

Some of our residents learnt to paint when they got retired and were keen to pick up the brush again and jumped at the chance when we offered some watercolour paints for them to have a go.

Our resident June was really keen to display her previous paintings.

Staff and Residents at Edingley Lodge were really excited with her talent.

Baking Day At Edingley

Today we made some delicious treats for our afternoon tea. Residents baked and decorated some fruit cakes and it's safe to say they were thoroughly enjoyed!

The residents enjoyed chatting about the home baked food they cooked for their families.

We find this kind of activity always great for social interaction and who doesn't love cake?!

Happy Chinese New Year

We welcomed in the Year of the Dragon with a day of celebrations and activities with families and friends.

The Chinese New Year is China’s most important festival that celebrated the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar.

Inspired by Chinese culture and traditions, our residents enjoyed a creative session with Chinese New Year DIY dragons and made beautiful lanterns to mark the day. For lunch our wonderful Chef treated us to a very tasty Chinese style buffet and made a lovely home made curry sauce to accompany the delicious food.

Burns Night Celebration At Edingley Lodge

Staff and residents at Edingley Lodge were involved in a number of activities. Learning the art of Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding race’ – the haggis.

General Manager, Jilu Stephen at Edingley Lodge Care home thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate an evening steeped in age-old tradition as well as getting in a spot of Scotch whisky tasting, reading a selection of Burns’ poems, virtual tour of the Robbie Burns Museum, dessert making by concocting a Tipsy Laird for afters.

She said: “Burns Night is always a fantastic event at Edingley Lodge, it’s so important to continue these traditions. Our residents enjoyed a hearty meal of Scotch broth, Haggis with neaps and tatties all prepared by our stellar Chef.

The residents at Edingley Lodge Care Home said: “I enjoyed acting out the part of the whisky-bearer and asking everyone to raise a dram to toast the haggis. Burns Night is always a brilliant night here.”
