Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life doesn’t stop when your loved one moves into our home. As well as fun activities in our home, we like to make regular trips out including to Malvern’s finest wine bars. New friendships are forged, and conversation flows.

Happy 1st Birthday to Elgar Court!

This weekend we celebrated our first year in our home – and what a year it has been!

Growing month by month, we have had the enormous pleasure of welcoming new residents and guests to Elgar Court. To celebrate this milestone, Councillor Clive Hooper who was the Mayor of Malvern and officially opened our home on 27 July 2023, returned to say a few words and also present home with the Malvern Civic Society Nomination Award for best new building in Malvern.

Cutting the wonderful cake, was Cherry, our first resident to move into Elgar Court. We were also particularly touched that our resident Roger, also wanted to give thanks to the life he and his partner Sheila have built with us.

Thank you to everyone in the community who came to Elgar Court to enjoy this special event with residents and staff.

Sundae with a View

The residents at Elgar Court are very proud of their new home, and have designed their new summer signature dessert  to represent our home's beautiful location called  “Sundae with a view”.    The sun was shining and the sundae was delicious  Especially as the residents had grown some of the ingredients; We gathered from our  kitchen garden the home-grown Rhubarb for the Rhubarb Gel. The fresh mint to accompany Raspberry and blackberry salad.

Ingredients

Hazel & Pecan nut Praline Rhubarb Gel with date cake crumb Pear mousse made with Millac Gold Crushed Raspberry and blackberry salad with fresh mint The basil flowers are also from the garden.

We hope this inspires all of our followers to try this delicious dessert!

Mindfulness Creativity – Jewellery Making

Sometimes residents take a break from our programme of many activities (quizzes, trips out, exercise classes, cinema club…) and just chat and relax while making jewellery with this popular mindfulness activity.
