Activities at Elgar Court Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Kerrie Perks
Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court. I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club. In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Elgar Court Care Home
Music to our ears - English Symphony Orchestra
We love hosting activities with Age UK and also joining in their own community events in the Malvern and the wider Worcestershire community. They hosted visiting members the English Symphony Orchestra at their Worcester Community centre recently and our residents absolutely loved hearing classical pieces and interpretations on modern classics.
It was especially poignant for some of residents with dementia who were swept away of their favourite composers brought alive by these very talented musicians – thank you!
All Smiles at Powick Primary school
After receiving over 250 birthday cards, Alice wanted to thank the wonderful schools. As well as sending thank you cards, Alice visited Powick Primary school and met the lovely members of the school’s Smile club.
This is a voluntary pupil club where children can come together once a week and get involved with the community, and this is where they put the banners and cards. Alice really enjoyed sharing memories and talking about her school days to the children and, showed them a photo of her at school!
Thank you for having us and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Meet Taylor the Tortoise
Taylor tortoise toured his way through our home, stopping for a head and shell scratch off the residents he met along the way.
Taylor is 10 years old and brought back lovely memories for residents that had owned tortoises.
Kerrie our activities leader gave residents an overview of Taylor’s daily care and his fave foods – watermelon!
And breathe…..Getting spiritual with Tai Chi
The ancient art of relaxation in our home is spreading throughout our home with residents practising their Zen, and listening to Kerrie take them through gentle movements.
This is now part of our weekly Namaste classes where residents can tune into their own bodies and minds.
The Final Easter Egg lands - Tom finally gets his egg
Just before Easter, we launched an Easter egg decorating competition with local primary schools and early years settings. Residents and staff were truly bowled over by the wonderful Easter egg designs sent into us, and making it very hard to choose the winners. Each winning design was then made into an actual chocolate Easter Egg (even the chocolate egg was made by us) with the winning designs replicated onto it. Tom from Malvern Downs School finally got his egg as as you can see from his face, he looks absolutely delighted with his prize!
Happy 104th Birthday Alice!
Celebrations filled our home today, when everyone at Elgar Court and well wishers from our wonderful community, joined Alice to share her wonderful 104th birthday. There was live music, balloons, the Mayor of Malvern, over 104 handmade birthday cards and banners and bunches of flower sent from local school children from Powick, Malvern and Upton!! Wow!!!
And of course, it wouldn’t be a birthday without a very, very special birthday cake. Alice’s amazing birthday cake was designed as a planter with daffodils – and naturally, all edible!
When we asked Alice what her secret is to a long and happy life, she said, “fresh air and plenty of walks!”
Thank you to everyone who made today so special for our dearest Alice
