Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Kerrie Perks
Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court. I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club. In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Life at Elgar Court Care Home
An afternoon of keepie-uppie with jokes and tongue twisters
The residents had a real giggle keeping a balloon in the air and doing a forfeit of a joke or a tongue twister if they dropped it the balloon. This game was fabulous for flexibility, coordination, and reaction speeds. Most of all, though, it was great fun! At the end of this fun game, the lovely Alice (103 years young) needed a cuppa and to put her feet up!
Let's go Bananagram!
Our resident Susan and Fran our carer had a fast paced morning of Bananagram, a word building game where players draw letters from 144 tiles and try to form words as fast as possible123. Susan was the first player to use up all her tiles and shout “Bananas!”
Keeping mentally active as well as physically well is an important part of our residents’ care, but above all, making it fun!
Sheila and Roger
Aahh a morning cup of tea with your loved one in their home, Elgar Court. Sheila and Roger were one of the first to move in and they haven’t looked back! Making the move has changed their lives, as there is so much to do and enjoy – and no boring housework as we do all of this for them!
One to one time – horse racing with Martha
Spending one to one time with our dementia residents and enjoying their company, is especially important to us to find out what brings each of them joy. Today, Martha and Maria sat and watched horse racing as Martha had a love of horses as she had grown up with them. We loved to hear Martha’s happy memories of her horses and finding out more about her life.
Looking foxy - Cake Sculpturing Masterclass!
Residents were treated to a masterclass of cake designing and decorating this week. We are very lucky that our Activity leader Maria, is a Master cake baker and decorator and runs her own successful cake business. Residents were in awe of her how a chocolate cake was carved and shaped into a fox then expertly decorated in icing.
Let’s make a splash - Painting like Pollock!
To celebrate the birthday of the 20th century artist Jackson Pollock, the residents of Elgar Court in Malvern donned their aprons to splash the paint around with great enthusiasm. The abstract works in the style of Pollock were great fun to make and Rose (76) and Martha (99) had such a giggle being playfully expressive with paint.
