Activities at Elm Bank Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Tina Prosho
Hello. I am Tina, I have been a team member at Elm Bank since 2023 and began my career as a Team Leader and was upskilled to Head of Care before moving my role to become Activities Coordinator.
I am passionate individual with vibrant character and my goal is all about life enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents. I ensure that the entertainment is stimulating and is inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home on a regular basis.
Getting to know our residents better is so important to me, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Elm Bank that will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

Life at Elm Bank Care Home
Lunch at the Local
Who doesn't enjoy a trip to the local pub? Last week, a happy band of Elm Bank residents met with friends, and family members for lunch at The Trading Post in Kettering.
We look forward to the next outing as we fulfil our residents' wishes. We intend to visit many different local establishments, pubs, cafes, and points of interest around Kettering during the summer months ahead.
International Museum Day
In celebration of International Museum Day, which took place on May 18, our staff and residents had the pleasure of viewing museum artifacts from the comfort of their armchairs, courtesy of Northampton Museum & Art Gallery.
On receiving the museum object boxes full of original and replica items, documents, and resources for our Activities team staged a ‘Day at the Museum’ session.
During the activity, residents in the group or during 121 room based sessions learned about everyday Victorian household items and WWII memorabilia. They got to handle everything from old coins to shells and fossils.
The Victorian children’s clogs, pottery, and old iron were very interesting for residents Sheila and Beryl, who commented that they found them all fascinating. Sheila said the iron would take hours to heat up before you'd be able to use it and Beryl's favourite item was the ladies shoe, as it reminded her of the shoes her mum once wore.
Katie Hudson, General Manager at the home, said: "Our residents love learning about new and old things, so they were all really interested to find out more about the visiting museum items. We’re now looking to book an actual day trip to Northampton Museum to view the many more collections on show."

Jars of Joy
We've been getting creative with staff donated glass jars, rather than send directly to recycling, these little pots are receiving a makeover from the residents in our Arts & Crafts sessions.
We hope to create a display of lights to brighten up the many planned summer events and evenings in the home gardens.
Thank you to all the carers who got involved in Atlanta's session, everyone had super fun designing and painting their little pots of joy!
Afternoon Tea for Two
We love to make our residents feel extra special. Carol and Glenys have become good friends since moving into Elm Bank, and having won at prize bingo earlier in the week, Carol used her 'Afternoon Tea for Two' voucher to spend quality time with Glenys.
The ladies were served a scrumptious trio of freshly made finger sandwiches, scones and sponge cakes by Emily. They enjoyed their special treat and sent thanks to the hospitality team for such a wonderful display.
The Activities team have prepared many more voucher treats for our residents to win at Bingo, Bowls and Cards. Here's to the next game, it's all to play for!
Gardening Club
'Fun in the sun' with the Elm Bank gardening club!
Our residents love getting outdoors and soaking up the sunshine. At the weekend they were planting pots with various blooms to brighten the lawn edges with pops of colour.

Cooking Club is back!
Today our residents had the pleasure of being guided in how to make a perfect pizza with home hospitality host; Garion.
Fits of giggles ensued as the group tried to stretch their pizza bases without tearing the delicate dough. Even one of our visiting family members had a go at creating his favourite topped pizza!
Thank you to our activities team, Garion and the care assistants who all got involved in this fun and enriching activity. Our residents will love tucking into a slice later... homemade pizza is simply the best.

We kindly ask for Tombola donations, these can be brought into the Care Home and left at reception or passed to any staff member.

Support Your Local Foodbank
Elm Bank continually strives to support the local community, we are collecting food donations for the local Food Bank. You can help by dropping of your donations at the Care Home.
Exercise Class every Fortnight
There are many health benefits to gentle exercising, strength, balance and energy. Why not come and try out at our free exercise class, every other Wednesday. All welcome.
Dementia Cafe at Elm Bank
The Dementia café is open to all, providing support, fun and friendship to those living with dementia and to their carers in a safe and relaxed entertaining environment.
