Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home
Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home
Afternoon fun with Clayton
We love it when Clayton visits us at Emily Jackson House. He always brings so much energy and fun. Clayton entertained us with such a great selection of songs. The residents had a great time singing along, clapping and dancing. Thank you Clayton for another wonderful afternoon of music.
John's birthday
March was a very busy month for birthdays and anniversaries at Emily Jackson House. We were very pleased to arrange and host a surprise birthday party for resident John Lucas. John has lived in Sevenoaks most of his life and is an artist. Barry the landlord from The Anchor, Sevenoaks was key to organising this event and got in touch with Johns old friends. Barry also very kindly supplied all the booze for the party. The evening was a great success!! So lovely to see a smile on John’s face.
Music and Other Things
Music is an important part of life at Emily Jackson House but we do lots of other things.
Recently we have been playing Bingo, Uno, balloon tennis , doing crosswords and Word searchs and making cookies The residents have taken part in a sensory activity and we have been making Easter decorations for our Easter trees.
With the help of our wonderful volunteer, Guy from local school – Sevenoaks School, Resident Tony has been building a model aeroplane. Tony used to fly spitfires and used to navigate on them during the war.
Hand Bell ringers
A marvellous morning of music with the wonderful Angela and Sandra with their hand bells.
Handbells are one of the world's oldest instruments yet the handbells used today are sophisticated precision instruments which produce a beautifully rich sound. They are very much a visual instrument too and the residents enjoyed the synchronised movement of the shining handbells. They even got to have go!
This had very special meaning for resident Dorothy as she used to play the bells in the tower at church and one of her daughters played handbells too. So the visit brought back some happy memories.
Mother's Day & A Special Birthday
Emily Jackson House was busy with visitors all day last Sunday, with families visiting their mothers to wish them Happy Mother’s Day.
Several families stayed for a delicious afternoon tea to celebrate Mothering Sunday. Residents and their families enjoyed delicious cakes, sandwiches and of course, scones with cream and jam.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a lovely afternoon, we all had a really good time
We were also pleased to be able to celebrate one resident’s 90th birthday. Happy birthday Roy!

Thank you to the all the families that came to our first ‘Big Lunch’ and made it such a Brilliant day.
