Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Garden Centre Visit
A lovely afternoon out at Polhill Garden Centre recently.
Residents were delighted to be joined by family members as we enjoyed strolling around admiring the beautiful show of colours.
Joan was so thrilled to see her daughter and so pleased to spend the afternoon with her enjoying a favourite pastime.

Visiting our Sister Home
Last week we visited one of our sister homes in Oxted.
We all got together at Tandridge Heights for a delicious afternoon tea and a good chat. It was lovely for the residents to go out and meet new people and find out about their lives, hobbies and interests.
We look forward to our next adventure with our new friends on one of our future minibus outings
Thank you for inviting us. Until the next time….

What a lovely surprise yesterday!
Sevenoaks School music choir surprised with an afternoon visit. The residents were pleased to see them and enjoyed the music.
We also had some volunteers from Sevenoaks School too who helped Residents Grahame and Tony to build their model aeroplanes. Both men have a passion for flying and their faces lit up as they talked about their flying days.

Remembering VE Day
Recently we took time to remember VE Day. It was lovely to hear stories of street parties and celebrations.
We all enjoyed a good old sing song with Natalie. We packed up our troubles in old kit bag and smiled, smiled, smiled.
On this day 79 years ago Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced the end of the Second World War in Europe.
Nearly eight decades on we remember the many British, Commonwealth and Allied personnel who liberated a continent from tyranny.

Outing to the pub
The Sun was shining today so it was a good excuse to go out for a trip in the minibus.
The residents were asked where they wanted to go - to a garden centre or a pub?
Well no surprise where we ended up.
The residents enjoyed their drinks and a change of scene.
Thank you to The Chaser Inn Shipbourne for making us feel welcome and for Dionne , one of our lovely volunteers (North Kent College) for helping.

Sensory Boards
The Magnadots and Magna boards are proving popular with the residents.
These magnetic boards are great for the residents cognitive skills. Activities and games keep the brain active especially for people affected by Dementia. The activity, stimulation and a sense of accomplishment can be beneficial and therapeutic for anyone.
The games help to provide a cognitive stimulation, hand-eye coordination and help fine motor and dexterity skills.
Residents also enjoyed a cookery class today and liked decorating ( and eating) the cookies they made.
