Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home

,

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year with a lovely planned meal, virtual tour and lanterns. The residents loved it!

Baking Day

We made Rocky Roads with the residents and they enjoyed it tremendously.

Vaccination Day

Residents and staff at Emily Jackson House were delighted when their GP surgery came to the home to administer the Coronavirus vaccine.

We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected. This has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

Christmas Celebration

Staff at Emily Jackson House made Christmas extra special for everyone and celebrated Christmas in the most unique way possible, with a decorated cart delivering residents gifts, handed out by staff member, Odette, who acted as 'Santa'.

Heart-warming music was played in the background to the residents’ excitement and delight. Some were very emotional and could not believe that, despite the hardships, during this pandemic, the staff went above and beyond making the celebration extra special for everyone.

To top this off, staff had done a great dance performance in front of the surprised residents to the steps and tune of the song, Jerusalema, currently viral on social media platforms all over the world.

A Kind Donation

We may not be able to change the whole world but we can change the world for one person; Emily Jackson is doing something special this Christmas by partnering with JAM (Joint Aid Management) UK.

Staff have decided that instead of spending money on Christmas cards or gifts for each other, they will donate this money to JAM instead.

JAM is an African founded and headquartered, Christian international humanitarian relief and development organisation currently operating in Angola, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Uganda and Sierra Leon.It is helping to develop people through educational and developmental programmes, meeting the nutritional and educational needs of children and providing sustainable water and sanitisation solutions.

Arts & Crafts

At Emily Jackson House, every resident is given the opportunity to participate and engage in arts and crafts activities tailored to their individual abilities. They always enjoy the tactile feel of painting and the repetitive action of colouring that has provided a form of easy relaxation and a sense of accomplishment.

Arts and crafts are always made easy and fun by our activities team by ensuring our residents are guided all throughout and by ensuring the art theme for each session is simple to follow.

The theme was 'butterflies', so residents cut out colourful paper butterflies. Most of the participants combined different colours, which looked really amazing when they were done.
