Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Happy Halloween Everyone

Our home was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween afternoon party got in to full swing.

Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home and dressing up to great all the children knocking at the Field House door! Resident; ’Peter the Pumpkin’ greeted everyone inviting them in to join his fellow residents create spooky masks, colour pictures and try apple bobbing.

We played pumpkin ping pong for ‘trick or treat’ prizes and enjoyed party snacks courtesy of our talented hospitality team. Local First Responder; Tracey Prosser and her children, along with the Mad Hatters soft play group were full of beans playing musical statues to the monster mash!

The residents loved watching the children have fun playing all the games. Little skeleton-witch; Ruby Lee Wiggan was an absolute star, not only a master of the apple bobbing game she gave every resident a handmade key chain to make them smile. Ruby Lee said “when I’m older I want to be a doctor so I can make all the poorly people better.”

Home Manager Paula cackled: “Our staff and residents love any excuse for a party! The home looks fantastic with all the decorations and our head chef did us proud with lots of spooky treats – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

Peter the Pumpkin said: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. I really enjoyed my role and dressing up to surprise the children, so much so I’ve asked if I can be Santa this Christmas.”

What a Show!

Last night at Field House, we met some fantastic people who came in to show our residents their talents.

What a brilliant night we all had from belly dancers to handling exotic animals and the stroking the most obedient PAT dog! We can’t wait to see them again soon. Thank you for making our show so very special.

Pumpkins and Harvest Festival

It was a very busy day at Field House, starting with carving out our pumpkins and getting a little messy but lots of fun, these activities always finish with memories about food and baking, Betty told everyone how she always made pumpkin jam and it sounded delicious.

After we had our Harvest Festival service the residents chose the hymns for the service and after we all enjoyed hot buttered bread made fresh that morning from our chef Paula.

Day Trip to Percy Thrower's Garden Centre

Just a little trip out to our local Percy Thrower's Garden Centre, part of The Blue Diamond Group for both Peters today. We picked up a few tulip and daffodil bulbs and we didn’t forget a cup of tea and a tea cake!

We enjoyed looking at all the Christmas decorations. They couldn’t believe how many Christmas displays they had out already.
