Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an activities capacity, so I became an activities provider, then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court.

I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents' lives through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

I am currently studying to advance my knowledge and career path. I am very grateful for the support Barchester gives to enable me to do this.

When I'm not at work, I love to travel and visit new places. I also enjoy the time I spend with my cocker spaniel, Cooper.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A healthy body and happy mind

We understand the importance of remaining active and celebrated National Senior Health and Fitness day  with a variety of fun-filled activities.

Residents enjoyed some light exercise with a game of badminton both indoors and out, walks round the garden whilst others participated in a virtual seated exercise session with the use of our pedal exercisers.

We also took the time to learn more about the benefits of physical activity and how it can improve anxiety and overall well-being.

Celebrating Chelsea Flower Show💐

Everyone seems to love flowers and residents are no exception and we all had a lovely time doing their own flowers arrangements and displays, discussing the many vibrant colours of the flowers and spending time in our garden. They all looked amazing.

A little help from our friends

Recently, we had the pleasure of being joined by some students from local school West Hill Park School. Residents loved seeing what work the children had been up to, reading their books with them and we all enjoyed planting some sunflowers! We look forward to our next visit and seeing if the seeds have grown

An afternoon with the Bowls Club Buddies

Popping out in our minibus enabled us to have the pleasure of reuniting Betty with her old Bowls team. Both Betty and her husband had played there for many years & Betty retired from the bowls team about 10 years ago but never gave up her love of it! She was delighted to be back playing in her old club again and catching up with the team members who are still playing from Betty's time there. What a lovely afternoon and it was topped it off by reminiscing on the bench she donated in her husbands memory

A big thank you to Bridgemary Bowls club for a wonderful afternoon
