Activities at Florence Court Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Jessica Duery
I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Rinka, our Canine Concern Therapy Dog is 1st in class at Crufts!
We are always thrilled to see amazing Rinka, our Canine Concern Therapy Dog. Ridgeback Rinka, is a regular visitor who spreads happiness and contentment around the home to the joy of both residents, visitors and staff. However the 2 year old canine favourite has achieved even more recently where she was awarded 1st in Class and also received the ‘Good Citizens Award’ last week at the prestigious international Crufts Championships at the NEC.
Owner Clare Kapma said ‘I am so very proud of Rinka and she really deserved her awards. She absolutely loves visiting Florence Court, where residents and staff welcome her so wonderfully and clearly the feeling is returned’.
Rinka is a firm favourite with residents, especially Margaret who really enjoys her time and cuddles with him. Margaret was so proud of Rinka’s awards that she wanted to show them off to everyone!
A Night at the Flicks!
Did you know that we have a luxurious cinema room for an authentic movie experience? Our movie sessions are quite popular, residents enjoy their favourite films by the fire, along with classic cinema treats.
Recently we enjoyed watching the new Elvis movie, everyone found it very interesting and entertaining📽

"If I'd have known you were coming, I'd have baked a cake "
Opportunities to maintain life skills are important to everyone, especially within our Memory Lane Community. Baking is a passion many people share and residents enjoy coming together to create something delicious. Weekly cooking sessions are incorporated into our activity planner for our keen bakers to enjoy. This week we made a delicious lemon drizzle cake. It was Jennifer's childhood favourite and it reminded her of baking when she was at school
A trip to Portsmouth Museum
We recently visited Portsmouth Museum and had a brilliant time with lots of laughs and a Football Face Off!
Using the home minibus, residents Mona, Betty, Jennifer and Doreen got together with Activity Coordinators Jess and Abby for a trip of nostalgia, fun and football.
From discovering how life through the times for Portsmouth families has changed, to laughing in the Hall of Games, they had a great day. The competition got tough when there was a ‘Fratton Park Play-Off’, but with the result as a draw everyone was happy!
Resident Mona told us ‘It was like a trip back in time for me with so much variation of things to see. My favourite was definitely seeing the Betty laughing with the Sailor’
