Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Trip to Alver Valley Garden Centre

Yesterday some of our Residents enjoyed a trip out in the minibus to visit a recently opened garden centre located not too far from Florence Court. There was a vast array of colourful plants and flowers to see as well as lots of garden ornaments. There was much laughter and lots of big smiles whilst there. Once we had seen everything there was time for a huge slice of cake and a cup of tea. Everyone had a fab time. We are looking forward to taking some more of the residents to visit over the next few weeks as its beautiful.

Games in the Garden

Residents have been making the most of the sun and enjoying a competitive game of bowls and hoopla in the garden. Its great to see their team spirit as they cheer each other on as they take their turns. Its always a fun afternoon enjoying games in the garden.

Employee of the month for June goes to our Deputy Manager Sarah Lewis. Sarah was nominated by the carers as she  always goes above and beyond for all the Carers and Residents. Sarah always has a smile on her face and nothing is too much trouble. Well done Sarah you are a star.

Residents enjoyed painting and drawing in the sky terrace as it was world environment day the paintings and sketches were based on objects related to the sea including a seagull, fish and boats. Residents really enjoyed themselves and there was a great deal of concentration taking place to produce some lovely sketches and paintings.

Woodlands Also Pre School Visit

The Residents enjoy regular visits from the local nursery Woodlands. The children get very excited when they come to visit. As the nursery is located a short walk away from the Home they are able to walk to visit us. The children when they come like to sing songs for the residents. During the last few visits the residents have also enjoyed some jubilee crafting. Its lovely to see the big smiles on the residents and children's faces. There is a lot to be said for intergenerational mixing.
