Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Out and about with friends

Enjoying a trip to Garson's Garden Center with friends is the perfect way to spend a rainy day Going out in the minibus and looking around whilst doing a spot of shopping. Always followed by tea and cake in the cafe. Yum ! Residents love being able to go on trips into our local areas, with garden centres being a firm favourite amongst them

Singer John Royston-Ford entertains the residents

Today we had singer John visit the residents to perform some classics. Our residents loved singing along and dancing. Everyone was able to have a dance in their chair or up on their feet. There was big smiles and laughter and we look forward to welcoming John back soon.

Painting and Building Bird Boxes

A group of the residents enjoyed painting and building bird boxes this week. They were painted in bright colours to attract the birds. The residents enjoyed painting them and then when the paint was dry helping to assemble them. There was a great sense of team work and pride when finished. Rob our Head of Maintenance is now going to put the bird boxes up in the garden to try and attract the birds to visit us along with some bird feeders. Residents enjoyed talking about their favourite birds.

Pet Therapy with Cali

Today residents enjoyed a visit from Cali for some pet therapy. Cali belongs to Sarah our Deputy Manager and loves coming to Florence Court to visit the residents. Cali gets really excited and wags her tail like mad when she gets belly rubs. Pet therapy is good for positive mental wellbeing and can really help with low mood. Its lovely to see the bond between the residents and Cali.

Trip to Alver Valley Garden Centre

Yesterday some of our Residents enjoyed a trip out in the minibus to visit a recently opened garden centre located not too far from Florence Court. There was a vast array of colourful plants and flowers to see as well as lots of garden ornaments. There was much laughter and lots of big smiles whilst there. Once we had seen everything there was time for a huge slice of cake and a cup of tea. Everyone had a fab time. We are looking forward to taking some more of the residents to visit over the next few weeks as its beautiful.
