Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Clay workshop at Fountains

Fountains welcomed Rachel Akers from Akers of Art to deliver a fun and engaging “play with clay” workshop and it was a huge success.

Rachel’s workshops are for all abilities and ages, artistic or not so artistic .Our residents enjoyed making figures and abstract items of their choice, allowing their creative side to emerge. It was a really wonderful session and a great way to relax, spend time together and create a unique keepsake.

A big thank you to Rachel for delivering a truly inspiring workshop.

Next is to paint our creations……

Solihull Embroiders kind donation for memory lane residents

Fountains received a surprise and wonderful donation of fiddle muffs and beautiful fiddle lap blankets from Solihull Embroiders Guild.

Members of the guild have been busy during lockdown making these for our memory Lane residents at Fountains.

The attention to detail and quality of these is so impressive - they are innovative, colourful and so interesting.

We have enough to offer these as welcome gifts for new admissions on Memory Lane and we couldn’t be more delighted.

A massive thank you to all the members of the guild for their kindness and hard work

International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day was spent celebrating friendships, old and new between residents and staff as well as marking those special friendships that have been built with our community.

Residents at Fountains spent the day enjoying time together, appreciating their friendships and enjoying a special meal where everyone came together.

For our community friends, residents and staff put together goody bags with homemade vanilla cupcakes, hand made coasters and friendship cards, amongst a few other goodies!

Lorraine Shannon- Home Services Advisor and Esme Lloyd Kelly - Activities co-ordinator, delivered the surprise goody bags and it was lovely to be able to show our appreciation in this way and further cement those all important relationships.

Garden centre visit

Fountains residents and staff were delighted to be able to hop into our minibus for a visit to our local garden centre today.

After a leisurely stroll around the beautiful blooms, we headed for the café to enjoy pots of tea and slices of delicious Victoria sponge.

It was a perfect opportunity for our residents to mingle, share stories and enjoy a wonderful afternoon treat.

Lolipop Ponies visit

Fountains residents and staff were delighted to receive a visit from the Lollipop Pony Parties today – the ideal ‘animal therapy’ session.

Salome and Lollipop brightened everyone’s morning and filled the home with genuine excitement and joy. They were so gentle and affectionate, and our residents loved getting to know them, hearing about their favourite foods and being able to give them friendly pats and cuddles.

We find the animal therapy like this is hugely relaxing for all of our residents, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them to Fountains once again.

Thank you to the Lollipop Pony Parties team for a truly wonderful morning.
