Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Garden party for centenary celebrations

Fountains residents and staff were delighted to host Florence’s 100th Birthday celebrations at the weekend, with a wonderful garden party for 25 of her family and friends.

Our wonderful kitchen team created a fabulous high-tea for the occasion that included a selection of finger sandwiches - roast beef and horseradish, egg and watercress, a delicious selection of cream cakes, flapjacks, jam tarts, cupcakes and scones with jam and cream.

Of course no party would be complete without some entertainment. The fantastic Ruby joined us again for the celebrations and everyone enjoyed singing along to their favourite songs, especially the birthday girl.

It was a perfect day and a wonderful opportunity to reunite Florence with her nearest and dearest. Our residents enjoyed celebrating from inside the building and were delighted to be a part of Florence’s very special birthday.

Happy Birthday Florence - and congratulations on reaching your Centenary. With love and best wishes from your Fountains family.

100 cards for 100 Years

Fountains residents and staff want to say a huge ‘Thank you’ for the amazing amount of cards we received in celebration of Florence’s 100th Birthday.

We were overwhelmed with the wonderful show of kindness and generosity and it was certainly appreciated by the birthday girl too.

There were cards from our friends and neighbours and even friends from the other side of the world!  Florence was thrilled to read each card and would like to share her appreciation too.

A special ‘Thank you’ to the children at Sharmans Cross Junior School and the classes at Montgomery Primary Academy for their beautiful hand-made cards.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community around us. Thank you for making Florence’s centenary celebration a genuine day to remember.

Partnership continues to bloom

Pupils at Cheswick Green Primary School were encouraged by David Wilson Homes to paint some ceramic pots and fill them with flowers. The pots were prepared for residents at Fountains which is a short distance away, as a colourful gift ahead of the summer holidays.

The school and care home are located close to David Wilson Homes Mercia’s divisional head office. The pupils received a donation of plant pots, soil, and begonias from the homebuilder, and spent time with their teachers preparing them for residents at The Fountains.

Sophie Miah, a Class Teacher at Cheswick Green Primary School, said: “Our Year Five class have really enjoyed working in partnership with Fountains Care Home. The children were so excited to paint a pot and then plant a flower inside"

Our residents loved receiving them so a huge "Thank you" from all at Fountains.

Hairdresser christens hair salon

Fountains residents and staff were delighted to welcome our hairdresser to the salon for the very first time!

Having opened in May 2020 residents have been unable to welcome our hairdresser until now. The wonderful Elaine treated our residents to fresh looks in our on-site salon and there were smiles all round.

Our residents were delighted to finally have their hair cut and styled after the months of lockdown. Everyone enjoyed feeling pampered and the results, we’re sure you’ll agree, are beautiful.

One resident said she felt young again. What a testament to the power of a new hair-do!

Thank you Elaine for your styling skills and helping our residents look and feel their very best.

National Picnic Week

Fountains residents and staff were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate National Picnic Week (19th-27th June).

Residents and their families got together safely in our garden and our wonderful kitchen team created more than 50 individual picnic selections. There was a delicious selection of sandwiches, homemade scotch eggs, vegetable quiches, sausage rolls and fresh strawberries and cream.

It was a lovely occasion; an opportunity to reunite families with their loved ones and a special time for everyone. Thank you to all of our residents and their families for making it so memorable.
