Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Community outings

Here at Fountains we are so fortunate to have our own minibus for our sole use. Getting out and about into our local community is very important to us all and we look forward to exploring further afield when we can.

We’re now scheduling two minibus outings a week. This week we headed out to Notcutts Garden Centre and enjoyed a lovely browse around the blooms. We also went into Solihull to Brueton Park for a leisurely walk in the sunshine with an ice cream.

All of our residents thoroughly enjoyed their outings and are delighted to be able to enjoy a change of scenery and to be seeing life returning to at least some kind of normal.

Bring Joy Foundation

Fountains care home were delighted to support Home Instead Solihull with their cake sale for Bring Joy Foundation this week.

The Bring Joy Foundation awards donations of up to £5,000 to UK not-for-profit organisations, groups and charities that demonstrate their commitment to creating activities designed to improve the lives of the elderly and bring the joy and fun back into ageing.

Fountains head chef Colin Buss and his dedicated team baked cup cakes and a beautiful Victoria sponge to put towards the cake sale,  along with goody bags to give away too.

Good luck for a successful cake sale Home Instead!

Loneliness Awareness Week

Here at Fountains we understand that moving into a new environment can be overwhelming at times.

Last week was Loneliness Awareness Week, (14th- 18th June). This week allows people to come together to raise awareness of loneliness

and to help people who are feeling this way.

We understand that people can feel lonely in any setting, even a care home so reducing isolation and feelings of loneliness is at the forefront of our minds, each and every day.

We aim to make all of our residents feel special and we see the value of social interaction and activities that provide a stimulating and fun environment.

With the beautiful sunshine, we saw it as an opportunity for all of our residents to enjoy lunch in the garden. It was a great opportunity to socialise, share stories and enjoy some time together.

National Beer Day

What better way to enjoy another glorious day in the sun than with an ice cold glass of beer.

Fountains residents and staff certainly enjoyed raising a glass or two to National Beer Day with a lively tasting session on the terrace. We soaked up the sun and shared our opinions on our favourite beers – from ales to stouts and lagers too!

It was a wonderful occasion for everyone to chat together, listen to music and enjoy the dancing talents of our fabulous duo!

Happy National Beer Day everyone!

Cheers.

Move in day

It’s been an exciting week at Fountains care home as we welcome not 1, not 2 but 3 new admissions to join our Fountains Family.

Moving to a new environment is daunting for any of us but for someone who has lived in their home for possibly over 50 years, shared it with their beloved partner and brought up a family there, we realise just how important it is to ensure the moment they enter Fountains, they feel at home.

We love preparing and personalising the room and ensuring when our new resident walks into it, they feel comfortable and cared for. It’s a very special moment.

All our rooms have en-suite wet rooms and are equipped with a very comfortable profiling bed along with tasteful furniture, armchairs and a flat screen TV. Ground floor rooms have patio doors and direct access to the gardens and our first floor rooms are definitely,  rooms with a view.
