Activities at Hagley Place Care Home
Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Mandy Hayward
I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Life at Hagley Place Care Home
Giggle in the Garden
Residents enjoyed the garden walk and were very interested in the bountiful summer display of flowers. We reminisced about the plants and flowers that were in their parents and grandparents garden and we had a really good giggle and enjoyed some silliness with the lovely snappy flowers!
'Outstanding' Next
Hagley Place was recently rated as 'Good' in our CQC inspection - so very close to 'Outstanding'. As a reward, all the staff have received a gift voucher and a hand-written thank you card. We are working hard to gain an ‘Outstanding’ CQC reputation in our next inspection.
Sticky Fingers
Residents at Hagley Place celebrated World Chocolate Day in style with fresh fruit to dip in to a luxurious chocolate fountain. Mouths were watering when dishes of fresh fruit were laid out on tables and gasps of delight were heard when the chocolate fountain was turned on and the rich chocolate cascaded down. No time was wasted in getting a strawberry or pineapple piece on a stick or fork to hold underneath the waterfalls of warm chocolate.
Residents of Hagley Place were thrilled at this unusual celebration, and one resident remarked: “I’ve never heard of this day before, but I rather like it. Same again next year!”
Employee of the Month - Zara Griffiths!

Ludlow cadets help residents reminisce
Maureen Daw and her Cadets from the 333 Ludlow Squadron A.T.C were special guests at Hagley Place Care Home on Saturday 24th. The cadets were welcomed by enthusiastic residents for tea and cake while both young and old exchanged their stories and memories of the influence (direct and indirect) of the armed forces in their lives.
Residents regaled the young cadets with stories of their past; some serving in the Wrens (Women of the Royal Naval Services), some serving in India and Africa and some sad tales of fathers and brothers who didn’t come home from the World War. Bittersweet reminiscences were offset with the wild and outrageous stories of daring-do and pranks played by both young and old, itching powder in underpants and extra spicy toast for the CO being some of the pranks pulled by the residents when they were in service.
“It was lovely to see and speak with the Cadets, the memories all came back of when I was young” said one resident.
“They were delightful young people, and I hope they come back again” said Fred Johnston, resident.
“Thank you for inviting us to your lovely home, we will definitely come back soon” said Maureen Daw, CO of 333 Ludlow Squadron A.T.C.
