Activities at Hazel Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Sonia Teixeira

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I am thrilled to be part of the team at ‘Hazel Lodge’ and to use the large range of experience I have from within the care sector.

As the Activities co-ordinator I have a real passion for promoting individual well-being and life enrichment and work closely with residents and their families, planning activities and events that they would like to participate in.

Summer Fete

The event was opened by Battle’s Mayor Cllr Dr Andrew Barton who spent time chatting to residents, visitors and stall holders.  The afternoon started with live music from local crooner Steve Dunnett followed by a Punch and Judy show and entertainment from children’s entertainer Crazee Hazee. There were a variety of local stallholders selling homemade crafts and produce and even a chance to win a cuddly toy on the ‘Hook a Duck’.

Staff at Hazel Lodge made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and a delicious selection of homemade cakes and drinks, prepared by the team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all!
Over £400 was raised on the day with all proceeds going to Hastings RNLI.

What a Wonderful Afternoon

What an amazing Place to be Battle is... We're so lucky to be surrounded by such a lovely community . Thank you Battle U3A Ukulele group, CJ Jive and the Saxonwood WI. We had a fun afternoon full of great music, amazing dancers and delicious cakes, what else could we ask for.

British Flowers Week - Competition

Congratulations to the two lucky winners of our British Flowers Week Competition who both received a beautiful bouquet of blooms with the help of the lovely Gwen who has recently taken over The Joy of Flowers in Battle  .
Home Services Advisor Sharon popped into Battle Bakes & Cakes LTD to surprise Louisa Grant who was nominated by her daughter Stacey who works alongside her mum . Louisa was so taken back and to be honest it was all very emotional !
Our second winner was the lovely Theresa Gasson who celebrates her birthday this week and was nominated by her mum Kathy as she thought it would be a lovely surprise for her daughters birthday . We do hope she has a wonderful Birthday.
Thank you to everyone who nominated a special someone and to Gwen for helping us with providing the lovely flowers.

Schools Out

We love being part of the Battle community and are always keen to answer a plea for help if we can .  Earlier this summer our lovely neighbours at Claverham College did just that and needed some additional space to help with exam time .  We were happy to help and for a few weeks we were able to offer a quiet space for students to be able to come and focus on their exams .
We were thrilled to have a surprise visit from some of the students from the school and a lovely bunch of flowers to 'Thank us' for helping out .
The residents loved seeing and chatting to the students about what they've been upto and it's great to hear that some will be returning for work experience/ volunteering at the home in the future.

National Biscuit Day

Residents celebrated National Biscuit Day by baking some delicious cookies in the home . The smell of the freshly baked treats filled the home and residents and staff couldn't wait for them to come out of the oven so they could try them !

Out and About in May

What a difference a month makes....with the longer, brighter days we've been hopping on and off the Hazel Lodge minibus and exploring the beautiful East Sussex countryside ( and even hopping over the county line to Kent ). We've visited Ashburnham Place , Hawkhurst Fish Farm , Merriments Gardens , Pett levels and Bexhill Sea front to name just a few of our adventures.
