Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Easter Baking Competition

Hempton Field have entered the Barchester Easter Cake Competition there are two categories, residents and professionals. The residents had a lovely afternoon baking and creating. We all discussed ideas and came up with the concept of the nest, we made a rich chocolate cake, with a chocolate butter cream filling and then the fun really started making our nest out of vermicelli. The chicks looked very happy with their edible home!

Heather's cake was a traditional sponge in an egg shape with very pretty flowers and leaf detailing giving a real feeling of spring.

Everyone really enjoyed working on the cakes and then all then really liked eating all our hard work!

Hearing Dogs for the Deaf

Hempton Field residents enjoyed a visit to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People cafe at The Grange their head office. Everyone had delicious coffee and cake and we had the bonus of the home's chiropodist, Susan coming into the centre to collect some things for her foster dog. We heard all about how she is a Hearing Dog fosterer and has been for many years. The charity rely on those who foster the dogs for the first 12-18 months of their life and socialise the dogs ready to become a Hearing Dog. The residents also enjoyed watching the film about the work of the charity.

Hempton Field Working with Local Community Garden

Hempton Field visited the volunteers at the Mill Lane Community Garden in Chinnor and also took along some home-made cakes made by our hospitality team for the garden's Mother's Day Afternoon Tea that took place today. It was an afternoon tea along with planting of sweet peas and nasturtiums.

The garden volunteers kindly gave our Head Chef Heather some spinach and kale for the home. Heather plans to use the kale and spinach as part of Nutrition and Hydration Week it is wonderful to have such local produce. The residents are also going to visit a local garden centre to plant seeds for the community garden.

Barchester's Bingo Bonanza!

This week we linked up with all Barchester care homes and hospitals across the country for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza. Hempton Field residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

We all had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

The Village Centre in Chinnor

There was a warm welcome today when we went along again to the Forget Me Not Club at the Chinnor Village Centre this lovely group meets fortnightly. Residents Rosemary and Elizabeth really enjoyed the music and some fun quips from the band! Thank you to all the volunteers who help run the group as well as the team at The Village Centre.

We have invited all those who attend the group to our community afternoon tea on Friday 15th March so we very much hope we can return the hospitality.

Saxaophone Music all Around at Hempton Field for Valentines

There is always plenty of love and warmth at Hempton Field, but today there was that little bit more as we celebrated Valentine's Day. The home was decorated with love with a special menu for lunch topped off perfectly with saxophonist Richard playing some classic romantic songs. A day thoroughly enjoyed by all.
