Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Everybody had smiles on their faces when we were visited by the team from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People last week!

We had an informative talking slide show and learned about all the wonderful work they do and how the trained dogs can change people’s lives.

We were then introduced to their adorable Ambassador dog who everybody was delighted to meet!

Easter Bonnet Making

It's nearly Easter!

Our lovely friends from St Andrews Church Chinnor visited us and we made Easter Bonnets together whilst sharing stories over tea and homemade cake.

The Big North Pole Expedition

Last week we had the pleasure of being visited and having a talk from Andrea who is soon going to be visiting the North Pole!

Andrea is part of the team with The 'Before It's Gone' North Pole Expedition and will be going on a Ski Expedition to the North Pole to collect valuable scientific data about Arctic Ocean Sea Ice before it's gone!

In April the team will ski the last degree of latitude across the surface of the frozen Arctic Ocean!

Andrea gave us an extremely informative talk on past trips and their plans for April. She showed us some of the clothing and items she will need to take with her and explained how they work and the benefits of them.

We are so excited to hear about the trip and are looking forward to following their progress online whilst they are out there! Andrea is also going to come and visit us when she comes back to tell us all about it!

Celebrating Bob Marley's Birthday

Last week our residents marked what would have been Bob Marley’s birthday with reggae music, dancing and a Jamaican inspired lunch.

Bob Marley is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.

We discussed the influence of Bob Marley’s music in Jamaica and all over the world, as we watched a performance from KelBilly Stomp Duo -Care Home Entertainers and danced to the rhythm of reggae.

It was a fun-filled day, enjoyed by all!

Tickling the Ivories

Margaret used to love playing the piano, and last week Margaret treated us all by playing her favourite pieces of music from her own collection of songbooks! She was so goo, and kept us all entertained. We can't wait for our next little concert.

Painting for the Big Garden Birdwatch

We decided to get creative with painting colourful birds and flowers to get ready for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch!

For the event, we will be playing a vital role in understanding how UK birds are doing in our local wildlife by choosing an hour between 27-29th January and counting how many birds we can see in our garden.
