Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Badges of Pride

The team here at Hempton Field understand their responsibility in ensuring our residents and colleagues are kept safe from this dreadful COVID-19 virus.

We embarked on a ‘whole-home’ approach to vaccination in early January; and today, our GM Sharon had the honour to hand out the ‘Barchester-Badge of Pride’ to celebrate the team taking the vaccine and, in their own way providing our route out of these dark days.

The badge sends a massive message of ‘THANKS’ from the wider Barchester family for leading by example, being together in our purpose and playing their part in the fight against COVID-19.

Wearing it with pride shows everyone their positivity to the vaccination program and encourages others to do the same #DontWaitVaccinate   #BarchesterTogether

National Pizza Day

We got together to celebrate National Pizza Day on February 9th - Our residents built their own pizzas, selecting from an array of toppings to create their individual taste sensations. Mabel loves Italian food and plumped for 'Pineapple and Pepperoni'?

Chef, cooked them all in our kitchen to serve them as a special supper treat, everyone was pleased with their personal choices (especially Mabel)

Employee of the Month - January 2021

Louise is a young carer, relatively new to the Hempton Field team. She is credited with Employee of the Month in January 2021 for her teamwork and resilience.

Louise demonstrated what a skilled carer and team player she is during a secondment to our sister home at Chacombe Park in Banbury over the 8-weeks prior to Christmas 2020. Chacombe Park expressed what a pleasure it was to have Louise part of their team during this period.

Our General Manager at Hempton Field; Sharon noted that Louise never once complained about the early collection from Hempton Field to complete each night shift, or the 1 hour journey back from Chacombe to Hempton every morning. Sharon personally picked her up on all occasions, and found Louise to be a very pleasant and engaging young lady.

Louise came to the UK last year from South Africa with her partner leaving her family behind. It has been hard for Louise being unable to travel and visit her family, she's found the separation and lack of contact saddening, but she remains upbeat and is valued member of our team.

We hope she enjoys the adulation and gift. Keep up the great work, we’re very lucky to have you part the Barchester family.

Getting Ready for Valentines

We’re all getting in the mood for ‘love’… Today several of our ladies have been painting love hearts for our valentines display. Mabel, Elizabeth and Shirley were full of laughter and smiles during the art session. It was so wonderful, we can’t wait to see the final creation.

‘Above & Beyond’

For going ‘Above & Beyond’ we thank you!

Sally Boult is a Senior Carer here at Hempton Field – she is a very passionate and caring lady who goes above and beyond always in her work. A great motivator of others, Sally leads by example. As our homes' infection champion; she works tirelessly to keep our home, residents and staff save at all times. She’s an absolute star and the pride of Hempton Field.

Special Burns Night Supper

Chef excelled himself on Burns Night!

Our residents were treated to an extensive Scottish menu, starting with Cock-a-Leekie soup with oat-cakes, followed by the 'Address to the Haggis' which was served with egg. The main dish of pouched Scottish Salmon came with nips & taddies.

For desert chef created individual raspberry ‘Cranachan’ and a selection of cheese, biscuits and scones... a perfect end to a special Burns Night Supper!
