Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home
Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.
Caroline Evans
Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.
I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.
I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Life at Hethersett Hall Care Home
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day with residents and shared our favourite stories. The day began with poetry on Memory Lane, with residents sitting in the sunshine whilst we read together
Later that day, residents in Main Hall, gathered round to hear stories of Norfolk by Pat Nearney from Norfolk Dialect. They also enjoyed singing along to some very well-known songs.
Staff dressed as their favourite character, which was a lot of fun and a great topic of conversation amongst the residents. They performed a special version of 'The Wizard of Oz' for Memory Lane residents that included an interactive and sensory environment.
We were also joined by some children from Friend in Deed, which made the occasion even more special.
A trip to Centre Paws!
Residents from Hethersett Hall enjoyed an interesting lunch at the Blackberry Tearoom in Centre Paws, Wymondham. A lovely farm with lots of animals, an Agility Centre and a Dog friendly café too!!! This sure brought a smile to our residents faces who thoroughly enjoyed their trip out. It is a pleasure to share moments like these together and create memories that will last forever.
We are now 10-60-06 accredited!
Hethersett Hall is delighted to have achieved accreditation for a new standard of dementia care that has been developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester.
The 10-60-06 dementia programme was developed and trialled by Barchester's dementia team, replacing the previous dementia care programme, in order to ensure that the care services provided in Barchester’s Memory Lane communities are the best in the sector.
We have implemented significant improvements to the personalised dementia care services we offer, and the way that all staff are trained, to better understand what it means to be living with dementia.
Special Friendships
Every second Saturday of the month we have visits from a group called Friend Indeed. Residents are really enjoying forming beautiful friendships and doing activities with these little visitors. This very special activity is creating lots of happy faces on Saturday mornings!
Pantomime Trip
Our local pantomime group showcased a production of 'Cinderella', and also celebrated their 50th anniversary. We took fourteen residents along to watch the show and invited some relatives to join us as well. They all had a fabulous time!
The group managed to raise an amazing £3,300 towards The Big C, Norfolk’s Cancer Charity. Here at Hethersett Hall, we like to support local charities and good causes, so we presented a cheque towards their collection.
Well done to Hethersett Pantomime Group on a fantastic show, and thank you to everyone who helped make this a very special trip for residents.
Burns Night
On Friday 25th January, residents and staff of Hethersett Hall all came together to celebrate the life of Robert Burns. We addressed the haggis by reading 'The Selkirk Grace' and listened to Scottish music, including 'Auld Lang Syne'. It was lovely to have the chance to share our own individual cultures and learn about others on this occasion.
