Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Elf Day
We had an amazing day dressing up as elfs, and went to visit the local nursery in our village. Hattie took a liking to Cookie and shared her mince pie with him. On our way home, we popped in to visit our local garden centre to help some people choose their Christmas trees. It was another great day engaging with the community.
Girl Guiding Meeting
Hilderstone Hall hosted an evening for the Girl Guiding Executive Committee and, as a welcome, we provided some amazing cakes served with hot drink, which went down a treat, as it was a very cold and wet evening, the ladies were delighted with our beautiful home and have asked if they could hold there future meetings with us, and, of course, we said yes, and we are looking forward to seeing them again in February.
Children in Need
We had a great day celebrating Children in Need, making shortbread bears and Victoria sponge cakes, and having a competition for the most wild hair style, all for a good cause.
Stroke Society
When a couple of visitors of one of our respite gentlemen asked us for ideas for their Stroke Society, we took it upon ourselves to go along and see what help we could be to them. It was lovely to see so many people volunteering their own time to such a worthy cause.
We played pass the parcel and also took part in the armchair exercise session. We also hosted an open house and were thrilled to meet all the people who came along for the occasion.
We hosted a raffle and donated half the money to the group to purchase a couple of board games that they thought would be useful to the individuals they care for.
Halloween Party
Residents and staff had a spooktacular day when we celebrated Halloween with a party. Staff, friends, famil and even Bella, our mascot, got dressed up to join in with the games and enjoy a wonderful lunch, followed by the residents judging and giving out prizes for the best costume and pumpkin designs. We are already thinking of ideas for next year.
Remembrance Day Preparations
We took it upon ourselves to add our own personal touch to our reception area as a great mark of respect for all those who fought in the World War One and it is with them in mind we stand proud with our poppies and bow our heads to remember each and every one of them and pray we never forget what they did for us all.
