Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Pudding anyone???

Yesterday, we were delighted to be invited to our sister's home, Melbourn Springs, for their Pudding Club. Three of our lovely residents had a wonderful day, enjoying a delightful chat with the Mayor of Royston, John Rees, who was incredibly friendly and full of good humour. Gill and Iris kept him on his toes with their endless questions and even extended an invitation for him to visit us! The day was made even sweeter with delicious puddings and refreshing drinks.  A heartfelt thank you to Melbourn Springs Care Home for their warm and welcoming hospitality - it was such a joyful occasion!

Festive Retail Therapy

We enjoyed another wonderful outing today when we took two of our lovely residents to see the Christams display at Scotdales Nursery and Garden Centre.

The residents seemed absolutely delighted by the beautiful array of Christmas decorations and you could see from their expressions how much joy and excitement the visit brought to them.

We will certainly be going back in the very near future!!

Marion's Wish

As many of you know, each of our communities has a wishing tree for residents to share their hopes. Recently one of our residents, Marion, received a delightful surprise from a simple wish that her daughter had left on the tree. Marion's room is filled with beautiful flowers, big vases brimming with blooms and even floral displays on the walls. She loves spending time there, admiring her flowers and watching the birds at her bird feeders. Her recent wish was for smaller vases perfect for smaller flower arrangements. Today her wish came true!! Marion received a charming selection of little vases in different sizes. She was thrilled and carefully admiring each of them. It was wonderful to see how a simple wish could bring somebody so much joy.

We Will Remember Them

Residents and staff came together on this special Remembrance Sunday to reflect, remember and pay tribute all all of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. we extend our heartfelt thanks to Bottisham Airfield Museum for their hospitality and for hosting the event.

Back at the home, we also visited residents in their rooms so that they could reminisce about their past and ensured that all residents watched the Remembrance Service.

Starting Christmas Early

Yesterday evening we enjoyed our first 'Polar Express' minibus trip to see the locally famous Christmas House in nearby Soham. Some feel it is a little bit early to get into the festive spirit, but with limited seats on the minibus, we decided to start early so that all of our residents have a chance to see the magical light display. Bill, John and Dennis were thrilled to be involved and all three had a fantastic evening as we laughed, shared stories and spread a bit of Christmas cheer, singing some of our favourite Christmas songs.

Fireworks Night at Hilton Park

Residents, families, and friends gathered for a magical Guy Fawkes night, with breath-taking fireworks lighting up the sky. Everyone watched in awe as colours burst overhead, then enjoyed live music by Kirsty in the Atrium, where families, residents, and visitors sang along, danced, and enjoyed hot dogs.A warm thank you to everyone who made the evening unforgettable, especially our maintenance team for their hard work in bringing the night to life.

National celebrations and family-friendly events are just some of the ways that we ensure the residents at Hilton Park remain connected with their loved ones and the wider community.
