Activities at Hollyfields Care Home
Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.
We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.
Kaylee White
Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.

Life at Hollyfields Care Home
Happy Green Fingers
Today we've been making the most of the sunshine at Hollyfields and Ivy House Care Home.
We've been busy putting our green fingers to the test, planting Sunflower Seeds, pruning the perennials and weeding the gardens.
We've been walking around the fields near to the home to see what the farmer had been planting and enjoyed soaking up the sun and stretching our legs.
Today has been so much fun for everyone and the residents and staff have thrived in the sunshine, one resident said "it's so nice to be able to enjoy the sunshine and flowers in the gardens"
Celebrating Our Queens 95th Birthday
As part of Barchester’s Life Enrichment Programme, staff and residents at Hollyfields care home in Kidderminster enjoyed an afternoon of reminiscence and celebration.
As HRH The Queen turns 95, we joined together to help celebrate what has a been a difficult year for everyone. Residents enjoyed reminiscent activities using YouTube and multi media devices to look back at her life and times and revisit previous trooping of the colour ceremonies.
Residents enjoyed an afternoon tea time treat of finger sandwiches, home-made canapés, quiches and sweet treats.
Our Head Chef Sarah Finch made a beautiful celebration cake for HRH the Queen and her team ensured all delicious treats were enjoyed by all.
Virtual Visit to London's Aquarium
As part of Barchester’s Life Enrichment Programme, staff and residents at Hollyfields care home in Kidderminster enjoyed an exciting virtual presentation, provided by SEA LIFE London Aquarium™
Everyone at the home had the opportunity to learn more about the London Sealife Aquarium, which is a home to more than 300 species and 4,000 creatures and to see green sea turtles, feeding of Gentoo penguins and sharks in their 1 million litre shark tank.
The SEA LIFE London Aquarium is located on the ground floor of County Hall on the South Bank of the River Thames in central London, near the London Eye. It opened in March 1997 as the London Aquarium and hosts about one million visitors each year.
Lucy Tomlinson, Resident Experience Manager for Barchester Healthcare, commented: “Our varied life enrichment programme keeps the residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to the residents’ interests and abilities.”
World Book Day
Staff and residents got into the spirit of World Book Day as the Mad Hatter and the Evil Witch from Snow White popped by to say hello.
There were stories a plenty being read by all and residents enjoyed listening to the pre-recorded stories from their pen pals at Franche Community Primary School.
The Mad Hatter had a different kind of tea party in mind this afternoon with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, fizzy pop and alcoholic beverages, all on offer. Nobody was late for this important date!
Luckily we managed to dodge the Evil Witch and her poisonous apples.
Happy Easter
A huge thank you to our friends at Boo Balloons for our wonderful Easter rabbits. Our residents got such enjoyment from them and they bought smiles to their faces too.
Residents received a visit from a rather large pink Easter bunny too, who gave each a chocolate egg and their Easter cards and gifts from relatives too.
The cuddly little lambs and chicks proved very popular, and residents really engaged with them.
The weekend didn't stop there: we did Easter bonnet making and egg decorating activities, as well as our Easter Egg hunt around the grounds too.
Mother's Day
Residents had a fantastic Mother's Day treat. There were flowers and cards galore sent from daughters and sons to their mothers, from grandchildren and great grandchildren to their grandparents and from staff to those residents who had nobody to receive gifts from.
There were plenty of smiles and laughter, as well as tears too. It wasn emotional day for everyone!
Thank you to all of the team at Hollyfields and Ivy House who worked on Sunday to give the residents and their families a day to remember.
