Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Hunters by Night
Hunters staff and residents have decorated the home and it looks magical. Thank you to the maintenance team who worked so hard to decorate the outside trees, we were all so excited to see it all lit up and it really does look like Christmas!
Celebrating 30 Years of Care with an Irish Theme
Hunter’s residents and staff celebrated Barchester’s 30 years of care in style with an afternoon of celebrations all with an Irish theme. We welcomed Irish dancers, from Ferrell Irish School of Dance, who were so entertaining and talented. This was all followed by Irish Cream, Guinness and cupcakes.
Thank you so much to the team here at Hunters who really do go the extra mile to make these events so successful.
Fabulous Centarian
Happy 100th Birthday Bobby. Not only is Bobby the Hunters Resident Ambassador, she is one amazing lady. We celebrated with a party and Head Chef, Leo made a stunning cake. We also were able to add a surprise from the RAF. Although known as Bobby to us all, she is also known by her full name Eileen Blythe and is an RAF Veteran, serving during the Second World, remotely tracking aircraft over the North Sea. Flying Officer Eve Westlake from RAF Brize Norton presented Bobby with a card on behalf of the station. Bobby really is 100 and fabulous.
Mayor of Cirencester Officially Opens Hunter's Woodland Trail
Hunters are delighted to announce the official opening of the Woodland Trail!
Residents, staff and visitors welcomed The Mayor of Cirencester, Sabrina Dixon to open the Woodland Trail, alongside Resident Ambassador, Bobby and Senior General Manager, Ciprian. The Mayor and Bobby both cut the ribbon after talking about the trail and announcing it open.
After enjoying a stroll along the trail everyone went inside for a drinks reception and cutting of the specially designed Woodland Trail cake created by Head Chef, Leo.
The trail was started with the idea of being somewhere residents could go outside that was accessible, and interesting as well as being somewhere families could walk when visiting. The features include a fairy village, meerkats, painted pebbles and light catchers. Local nurseries and schools are invited to visit and take part in the trail and everyone visiting can pick up a copy of the trail at reception.
Thank you so much to The Mayor for opening the Woodland Trail and a big thank you to everyone who made this trail possible. The maintenance team have worked so hard to prepare the area and add to the trail each bringing their own ideas. Activities have been working with residents painting and creating and will be continually adding to the trail. We must also thank Annabel, who designed and painted the pebble display at the start of the trail.
Country and Western Bonanza!
Hunters welcomed Country and Western singer Donna Chalcraft for our Country and Western Bonanza. Great fun was had by all with our own Sheriff and Deputy! It coincided with International Gin Day so residents really did have a perfect day!
Therapy Pony Visit
What a lovely morning spent with Poppy the therapy pony from Dinky Ponies. Hunter’s residents were full of smiles and questions. Poppy even ventured in the lift to visit residents in their rooms. We are looking forward to seeing the ponies again in January.
