Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Rencombe College Visits

At Hunters the residents are visited by the students of Rendcomb College every Friday and this week to get everyone in the Christmas spirit they helped the residents to start to decorate the Christmas trees. This is no light undertaking as at Hunters every year we have thirteen trees inside and out all decked out with lights and decorations.

A big thank you to the students for their help and for getting us all in the Christmas spirit.

Chester Enjoys Treats!

At Hunters we are registered with the Cinnamon Trust as a pet friendly home. From exotic animals to pet therapy visits we know how important and therapeutic animal contact can be for the residents here. Chester the cat visits the home regularly and always receives a warm welcome and more importantly plenty of treats.

Walks with Hawks

This week we had a wonderful afternoon in the company of Clare from Walks with Hawks who brought along her beautiful and fascinating birds for the residents to experience an up close encounter and enjoy a fascinating and educational talk. Clare came with an Eurasian Owl, an American kestrel, a Barn Owl called Orio and last but not least the Mighty Thor an owl who may be small in stature but is big on personality.

Building Strength

Gfitness classes are always popular, not only are they fun and sociable, they are also very beneficial. Matt is an expert in chair based exercises working within the ability of the group and adapting to each person. Yesterday's class focussed on using the resistance bands to build and maintain strength.

Remembrance Display

The residents have been busy creating this year’s display to commemorate Remembrance Day and Armistice Day. For the residents at Hunters it is very important to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by the members of our armed services, many of the residents served during times of conflict and are now the last of the few which makes this time of year very poignant and moving for all of us.
