Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home

Five Star Rating

Well done to the kitchen team at Hunters who after a recent inspection maintained the highest level of a five star hygiene rating. The team led by Head Chef Leo Vilaca strive to not only maintain standards but also look at every possible way to improve the running of the kitchen and the service provided to the residents. One of the team Lauren was not in to have her photograph taken but she is also a big part of the continued success.

Carols and Afternoon Tea

This afternoon the residents enjoyed a carol concert from the volunteers from Mind Song. The volunteers braved the chilly weather to stand in the courtyard garden and sing seasonal songs. There was a lovely atmosphere with everyone around the courtyard joining in.  The residents then enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea.

Christmas Magic

At Hunters we are so lucky to have the use of a mobile magic table, it really is versatile being able to take the fun games into resident’s bedrooms with the interactive projections. The table has seasonal games and we have been using it to bring Christmas cheer to the residents. It’s amazing to see the look of wonder on people’s faces as they interact and play with the games.

Christmas Jumper Day!

Hunters residents and staff all enjoyed the fun of dressing up in their Christmas finery for Christmas Jumper Day.  The day culminated in a staff jumper parade with the residents choosing the best outfit. The winner this year was Arabella who had accessorised her outfit perfectly. There was also a prize for the best resident’s jumper but the decision was so difficult it was decided to share the prize of chocolates amongst everyone!

Memory Lane Christmas Party

Residents from our Memory Lane community started the festivities with their annual Christmas Party. The Christmas sing along with music from Ray Dolphin was great fun followed by a delicious buffet lunch prepared and served individually to the residents by our kitchen team led by Head Chef Leo.  It was wonderful to see all the Christmas cheer.

Getting Christmas Creative

This afternoon at Hunters the residents enjoyed a seasonally themed arts & crafts session. Making plant pot holders with holly, ivy and mistletoe designs. Once the holders are lacquered they will make ideal containers for small plants and can be given as gifts to family and friends.
