Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

, ,

Gardening club

Residents at Iddenshall Hall take their gardening club seriously, taking advantage of the continued dried weather they enjoyed the great outdoors to continue to plant their seeds and flowers around the home including the new raised flower beds. Once their task was completed they sat back to admire their work over a cup of tea and slice of home-made cake!

,

Nutrition and Hydration Week

We celebrated Nutrition and Hydration Week in style with a variety of delicious and healthy meals and beverages, alongside engaging activities.

During the week, our talented chef prepared nutritious sweet and savoury treats, super snacks, smoothies and fruit salads.

Our residents got involved in food tasting and cocktail making activities, cookery sessions and we all had fun submitting our entries for the Nutrition and Hydration competition, organised by Barchester’s Hospitality Team.

National Cream Tea Day

Staff and residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View brewed up a storm for National Cream Tea Day on June 25th by hosting an afternoon tea party in the garden with live entertainment, a wonderful selection of baked treats and of course, lots of pots of tea.

Refusing to pick a side in the controversial debate of cream before jam for the Cornish tradition or jam before cream as part of the Devonshire tradition, everyone enjoyed homemade scones both ways, all washed down with a fes-tea-val of herbal and classic teas.

Painting in the garden

Residents of Iddenshall Hall had a wonderful afternoon of art and relaxation painting in the homes extensive grounds. They enjoy painting outdoors especially on a sunny day with the plants and flowers and spending quality time outdoors in the fresh air. Once their masterpieces were complete, they sat back to enjoy afternoon tea especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.

Virtual event with Hereford Cathedral

We had a lovely time joining the team from Hereford Cathedral for an exciting virtual session.

We enjoyed a glimpse of this spectacular building and its treasures in a series of short pre-recorded videos. From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.

,

World Envirnoment Day

The Residents of Beeston View ‘did their bit’ to support World Environment Day with a recycling project by using plastic bottles which were painted and filled with compost, before Residents enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine planting them up with Geraniums and hanging them in the garden for all to enjoy.
