Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Virtual exercise with the green goddess

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View in Clotton were treated to an armchair work out courtesy of the Green Goddess, Diana Moran, and Shackleton’s furniture company, followed by a mindfulness session led by Shackleton’s Emma Raybould.

Diana rose to fame as a glamorous fitness guru on BBC’s Breakfast Time in the 1980’s and has made an outstanding contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people in the UK. She now brings that experience to Shackletons as their Health and Wellness Adviser.

International Nurses Day

We celebrated the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, also known as International Nurses Day, by acknowledging our dedicated and hard working nurses at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View.

To mark the occasion and to say thank you, the home’s chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. Residents created hand-made cards and enjoyed an interactive ‘Guess the body’ game.

National Garden Week

Residents at Iddenshall Hall used their green fingers as they marked National Gardening Week by encouraging residents to work together to spruce up their outdoor space.  Residents love to care for the homes plants and outdoor space, during the course of the week they have watched YouTube to explore how to care for specific plants, looked at gardening magazines and changed soil to some plants.  The activity created a lot of comments on how they had cared, designed and managed their own gardens!

Blooming marvelous

Today the sun may not have been shining but this did not stop Residents  on our Beeston View community thinking about the long hot days in the garden as they prepared their hanging baskets with colourful floral displays.   It was a very busy and productive time planting and everyone is looking forward to the warmer weather so that they can sit outdoors and enjoy when they are in full bloom!

Guess the object!

To celebrate International Guide Dog Day, the Residents of Beeston View played a game of ‘Guess the Object, by touch only.’ This involved feeling. identifying and naming all sorts of different weird and wonderful objects concealed in a bag. The Residents really enjoyed the challenge and managed to identify nearly all of the objects although the giant fir cone caused lots of laughter and  had most of them stumped!

St Georges Day

It was all dragons and roses all round at Iddenshall care home, in Clotton, as residents and staff celebrated St George’s Day.  Legend has it St George was a soldier in the Roman army who slayed a dragon and saved a princess, the anniversary of his death is celebrated as England’s national day.

In honour of the patron saint of England, staff and residents at the home marked the day with watching videos of St George’s Day parades on youtube, learning to morris dance, virtual visit to the pub, quiz, holding a tea party, virtual tours of traditional English landmarks and a special performance by one of the homes carers who plays the violin.
