Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Church Service, Hymns & Communion

We were blessed to welcome the Revd Jim Bridgman to Beeston View.

Residents gathered in our lounge for an afternoon of hymns, prayer and communion. The content of the service rang familiar with many of our Residents as they naturally sang along to the hymns and joined in with the Lords Prayer.

Faith being a huge part of the lives of many of our Residents, it is important that we continue to offer this opportunity to them whilst in our care.

A huge THANK YOU to Revd Jim Bridgman for partnering with our home and we look forward to welcoming you back again on a regular basis.

British Pie Week

We've had our British Pie Week celebration by baking our own pies and then we had a competition to choose the best flavour. And the options were:

Mince and mash potato pie / Mince beef & onion pie

Veggie pie / Cottage pie / Cheese and potato pie

Thelma, one of our residents, was the one who guessed most right flavours, so she was the winner. We finished by tasting our delicious pies with a glass of beer!

Love is in the air!

Residents here at Iddenshall Hall had a fabulous Valentine’s Day and love was most definitely in the air!

We enjoyed a day of themed activities, delicious heart shaped shortbread biscuits and shared our ‘love’ advice and memories of the most romantic gestures received.

It was a wonderful day.

Intergenerational visit

The Residents at Beeston View have had a wonderful time as they welcomed children from one of our local schools , Calveley Academy into their home to join them for an afternoon of Valentine crafts.

The children and residents worked together to create cards and gifts for their loved ones and friends which was followed by story-telling when the children shared some of their favourite tales.

It was a really happy afternoon, enjoyed by all.

Waitangi Day celebration

The event began with a kiwi smoothie tasting that we did in the morning, then we painted our faces in the Maori style ready for our Haka dance. Residents and staff joined in and lots of laughter was enjoyed by all. We ended the afternoon full of energy and humming the song in the Maori language.

We had a wonderful time and it was a real success as everyone really loved it!

Year of the Dragon

This year Chinese New Year fell on February 10th and marked the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. Residents spent an enjoyable day making Chinese lanterns and decorating the home with an oriental  theme.

Our Chef John, created a  range of Chinese culinary delights for tasting which everyone agreed were extremely flavoursome.  Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
