Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall & Beeston View.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Mexico Day

Mexico Day

One day of each month is now dedicated to a particular country; food, entertainment and clothing connected to the respective country will be enjoyed on that day. Most recently, we indulged in the culture of Mexico.

We decorated the home with Mexican flags and bunting, in addition to pictures of Mexican food and culture. The kitchen prepared a special menu for the day, including chili con carne, Mexican pork stew, chicken fajitas and dark ginger cake for desert.

Residents dressed in sombreros and staff painted moustaches on their faces for the day. We held a Mexican quiz and created some art work too; we had Mexican pictures for residents to colour in or paint, and the tables were decorated with cacti.

Trip to Manley Mere

Trip to Manley Mere

We drove out to Manley Mere Lake recently to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine.

Despite the children being on holiday, we were able to find an empty picnic bench next to the lake, where we were able to enjoy our food and watch the ducks float by. Residents particularly enjoyed watching all the children playing and swimming in the lake, as well as the boats that were out and about.

It is a lovely place to sit outside and relax.

Shopping Trip to M&S at Cheshire Oaks

Shopping Trip to M&S at Cheshire Oaks

We enjoyed a big shopping trip recently to M&S at Cheshire Oaks in Elesmere Port. We took along a picnic lunch to enjoy and give us the energy to walk around the shop, which is huge!

We tried on hats, looked at all the lovely food in the food hall, purchased a few items, such as a dress and some slippers, and then enjoyed a gorgeous piece of cake and a cup of tea in the café to recharge our batteries before looking around the home interiors. The residents really enjoyed the trip and we are already planning our next visit by creating shopping lists.

'Thanks for the Memory' Big Band Concert

'Thanks for the Memory' Big Band Concert

We visited Cranage Hall for their annual 'Thanks for the Memory' Big Band Concert.

This is the third time we have attended the event. It is always a fantastic day out and the residents particularly enjoy the band music and guest singers each time. It is a 3 hour concert but we stopped for lunch and enjoyed a picnic en route, finding a scenic place to eat our food.

We are already looking forward to next year!

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts

Residents have enjoyed doing some painting during our Arts and Crafts sessions recently. We provided pictures for them and some water colour paints - and then we let their imaginations and creativity take over. The results are very innovative!

Wool Poker

Wool Poker

We invented a new game at Beeston View - Wool Poker!

The carers and even our Chef, Simon, joined the residents for a game of poker, in which we used balls of wool as bargaining chips. How inventive!
