Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Oll an Gwella - part of Newquay Male Voice Choir sing for Kenwyn!

We had a wonderful afternoon full of festive cheer thanks to the Acapella singing group Oll an Gwella (Members of NEWQUAY MALE VOICE CHOIR)

Our residents had such an amazing time listening to the carols and songs performed.

Stay tuned as we will upload a video and you'll be able to hear the wonderful voices of the choir.

Carols at Christmas time are timeless, Oll an Gwella really blessed us with the Christmas spirit yesterday and we look forward to welcoming them back in 2023.

Deck the Halls

Today at Kenwyn was the start of our Christmas countdown. Yesterday and today we decked our halls! The activities team have done a wonderful job with the help of some of our residents and relatives.

A big special thankyou to Angie and Elaine who came in and showed our residents how to make some wonderful Christmas centre pieces that you will see in the pictures below.

We truly are getting into the Christmas spirit at Kenwyn and can't wait to share our Christmas journey with you all.

'Tis the season to be jolly

We are definitely getting into the Christmas spirit here at Kenwyn. Our residents have been busy making their own cards and getting into the festive mood.

We also had a wonderful performance by Local singer Rachel best to get us all singing and dancing to our favourite Christmas classics.

With many more performances and activities to come we are well and truly excited for the season to be jolly.

The Pumpkins of Halloween!

A happy Halloween from our residents at Kenwyn! Before the weekend our residents and activities team were busy making Pumpkin arrangements ready for the big day. We used locally sourced pumpkins and flowers from our farmers market to create this autumnal display.

Our residents love getting creative and this was the perfect activity for the spooky season. The flowers smelt divine and the residents were extremely happy with the end result of their hard work!

Betty turns 100 with Congratulations from our King!

We have big news - Huge!

Our lovely resident Betty Penrose turned 100 years young a few days ago.

Betty is much loved by everybody at Kenwyn and her closest family gathered to celebrate with her in one of our lounges with a Kenwyn prepared buffet.

Our Chef, G, prepared the most chocolatey cake and that wasn’t Bettys only cake we might add – and rightly so!

During Betty’s earlier life, she worked in a Knitting Mill and later on travelled to Spain and America, and made Kenwyn her home in 2021.

Perhaps the Icing on the cake (Pardon the Pun) was Betty’s card from the King and his wife Camilla.

We have been used to seeing cards from our late Queen, but we wonder…. Is Betty the first person in Truro to receive a card from the King?

Happy 100th Birthday Betty – with love from us all at Kenwyn.
