Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Alpaca Adventures!
What a truly wonderful experience it was last week when we welcomed the fabulous Wendy Williams and some of her beautiful, furry friends from Alpaca Adventures...
Liquorice and the rather grandly named, Spartan Warrior (Spar for short...), were guests of honour in our home as they went from room to room, surprising all of our residents for a special visit.
Everyone was really thrilled and in complete awe that two alpacas were popping in to see them!
It was a wonderful afternoon and here are just some of the photos from the day, with more to follow on tomorrow.
THANK YOU, Wendy, Liquorice & Spar for such a wonderful afternoon, which brought so much pleasure to all in our home!
On another note, see how we squeezed two alpacas, a Home Services Advisor, an Alpaca Keeper and a visitor, into a lift! (Sounds like that start of a bad joke!)
AMAZING ACTIVITIES TEAM!!!!
Happy National Activity Providers Week!
We would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Activities team here at Kings Park Care Home...
We are so proud of both our AMAZING activities staff members for the unique, outstanding activities and entertainment they bring to our residents every single day and spreading smiles in our home wherever they go.
They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.
Claudia, our Activities Lead, along with Activities Assistant, Vivian, work really hard, both in front and behind the scenes, to ensure that they can provide a wonderful mix of tailored activities sessions, to consistently pique the interest of those in our care and we think they do a fantastic job!
At Barchester Healthcare we love to 'Celebrate Life' and our Activities team really are amazing at helping our residents to do exactly that!
Celebrating 'Rabbie!'
The Scottish party was in full swing recently as our lovely residents gathered in the ground floor lounge together, to celebrate the amazing Scottish poet, Robert Burns...
It wouldn't be a Scottish party without a 'wee dram', so in true Scottish fashion, we had to oblige our residents and toast the man himself. *HIC*
There was a quiz, poetry read aloud by one of our residents and finally some wonderful music, which had everyone up and dancing!
Following on, everyone was treated to a traditional Scottish feast of haggis, neeps & tatties.
What a truly lovely afternoon we have had here at the home - THANK YOU, RABBIE!
'Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And ne'er brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne.'
~Robert Burns
The Written Word...
Isn't it wonderful how books can bring people together?
Every other week during term time we love to welcome the wonderful young students from Ferndown First School and they were back in action with us earlier in the week.
Our foyer, Cafe & Orangery areas were a buzz with chitter-chatter as the children, getting more confident with each session with us, were quick to buddy up with individual residents to reach some of their favourite books.
We really love these wonderful sessions and afterwards, the residents all smile broadly as they discuss the children's visit.
THANK YOU, we look forward to the next session.
Never underestimate the power of a good book!
Lovely Lighthouse!
Residents were recently in awe of a very special model brought in by one of our resident's family members...
Anne, daughter of the lovely Sheila, has a big passion for Lego models, buying them second-hand online, before attempting to build them - We were very impressed, simply with her sorting out all of the bricks in the first instance! (When purchased new, the bricks are packaged and marked up, but when bought second-hand, often in a box mixed together!)
So, Anne thought it might be nice to show her mum and some of the other residents one of her smaller achievements; a wonderful lighthouse model, complete with working light.
The residents were transfixed with this and very impressed indeed! However, Anne then showed them another picture of her Eiffel Tower model. This structure stands at a height of almost five feet tall and sadly very difficult to transport!
Keep going, Anne! Your models are amazing and we would love to see more in future.
Cheese & Wine Evening
Earlier on last week Kings Park held a wonderful cheese & wine evening in honour of introducing our lovely Senior General Manager to everyone properly...
We welcomed our wonderful friends and family, along with many of our residents, who all came together for this lovely, relaxed affair,
With entertainment from the very fabulous, Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music and LOTS of delicious cheese to nibble on and wine flowing, everyone appeared to really enjoy the atmosphere.
Jenna took a few moments on the mic to introduce herself properly to everyone, before doing the rounds, spending time with individuals to chat further.
We wish to thank everyone who came along to support this event and feel that due to it's success, will be planning similar events for the future!
