Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Nick Sellers Performs

We recently welcomed the fabulous Nick Sellers into our home to come and spread some musical joy amongst our residents...

Nick sang as our residents gathered up on our Memory Lane floor, much to everyone's delight.

There were many songs from yesteryear, which residents sang and clapped along to, but some of the, couldn't keep their dancing feet still, getting up for a spin on our make-shift dance floor.

Eric and Mary were quick to show everyone a few moves as to how it's done!

Thank you, Nick, for another wonderful afternoon of music, fun and reminiscence!

A Seasonal Floral Gift!

What an incredible gift we received recently from our friends over at Ferndown Sainsbury's!

After a phone call from the store saying they have some flowers (a day over their sell by date) for us, our Admin Assistant, Jacqui went across to collect them, only to find two trolley loads of flowers waiting for collection!

Claudia, our Activities Lead was quick to respond with some seasonal crafting sessions, helping all the residents make some pumpkin displays to place around our home, with lots of the flowers still looking gorgeous.

What a wonderful job they have done!

THANK YOU Sainsbury's for your kindness and generosity - You have made a lot of our residents smile with your wonderful gift!

Poppy Season...

With the poppy appeal now well under way, our residents were busy doing their bit to ensure everyone in the home 'Remembered' those who fought in battles past...

Pictured is the lovely Audrey, who took it upon herself to do a bit of Remembrance colouring and has don a wonderful job!

Royal British Legion Club Ferndown have kindly left us some poppies for anyone who wishes to buy a poppy and donate to their annual Poppy Appeal on our reception desk.

Don't forget to pop in and get one and WEAR YOUR POPPY WITH PRIDE!

'Happy' Halloween

It might be Halloween, but here at Kings Park our residents are steering clear of the scary stuff and in its place decided upon something a little more cheerful...

Residents gathered up on our Memory Lane floor, set about creating some 'Happy' Halloween bunting, with cheerful ghosts and ghouls - No scares or tricks here this Halloween season!

What a lovely job they have all done with they creativity!

So whatever you are getting up to this Halloween, take a leaf out of our book and steer clear of the scares and put the 'Happy' into Halloween instead.

Accordion Andy...

We were delighted to welcome the fabulous Andy into our home recently, who came along with his accordion...

Residents all gathered together up on our Memory Lane community, where they clapped and sang along to lots of well known classic tunes from yesteryear, which got our residents chatting and smiling as they reminisced together.

Andy very kindly popped into some of the residents rooms who were unable to join us in the main lounge, where they were able to enjoy their own personal serenade, spreading much joy in our home as a result.

Thank you Andy for your sharing your amazing talent and for showing all our residents so much kindness and compassion through your musical gift!

Oomph! Exercise Class

Residents here at Kings Park love to be able to have access to regular exercise...

So recently we logged into the fabulous on demand system called Oomph, where we have access to a multitude of different activities, music, exercise classes and much, much more!

There was an great turn out in our ground floor lounge for this and residents really got stuck in to their morning workout, helping them all to stay fitter and stronger for longer.

Well done Kings Parkers for your amazing efforts and THANK YOU to Oomph for the wonderful session.
