Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

We would like to introduce to you our Senior Activities Coordinator, Charlotte Thompson. Charlotte is pleased to be welcoming families and volunteers back into the home. Charlotte is a senior activities coordinator and enjoys supporting other homes in our region as part of her job role.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Varied Life enrichment activities
Over the past few days here at Lancaster Grange we’ve had a variety of socially interactive activities, visiting and supporting our local community.
Residents enjoyed a mini bus trip to Marks and Spencer Food Hall Newark for essential shopping, before coffee & cake at Costa Coffee.
Our Pets As Therapy dog Kira and her owner Janet were both welcomed by many residents, for individual room visits on our Sherwood Community yesterday.
Residents came together for Cookery Club baking ‘Pumpkin and Maple Syrup Muffins’ recognising both Canada Day and American Independence Day. Residents and guests enjoyed them at our monthly coffee morning held this morning.
Elsie requested a wheeled walk over to our local Fernwood Polling Station to vote for the General Election, while many of our residents had already voted by post.
And finally Dave from RAF Syerston visited our residents for social discussions in our coffee shop this afternoon making new acquaintances.

Work experience at our care home
Three students were welcomed into our home this week for their work experience.
Mia and Leighla joined us from The Suthers school in Fernwood, Owen, joined us from The Carre's Grammar School in Sleaford. The students have spent the last 4 days helping and learning from The Activities Team.
Engaging with residents and participating in their Life Enrichment program has been a great experience for them and us.
The students have been amazing in taking our residents into their grounds for garden walks and talks.
We also walked over to Fernwood Park for nature walks with ice cream, and this afternoon we visited The Brews Brothers- Pub & Kitchen for refreshing drinks. The weather has been glorious and we have fully taken advantage of exploring the outdoors and visiting our community.
We appreciated all of their help and we hope you had a great time with us at Lancaster Grange.

Intergenerational links with Claypole Primary School
Our residents of Lancaster Grange would like to thank the children from Claypole Church of England Primary School
for inviting them to a wonderful gardening experience yesterday.
The children from Claypole School held a non-uniform day last week to raise money to help buy plants for their school and our residents.
The children and residents worked together while planting the flowers and we were so happy when they gave us two potted flower pots to bring back to our care home to showcase in our grounds.
Our residents of Lancaster Grange have developed an exceptional community engagement friendship with the children.
We greatly appreciate all the help from the teachers to allow these intergenerational visits to take place.

Recognising Alzheimer’s Cupcake Day
We recognised Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day with our own ‘Lancaster Grange Great British Cupcake Bake Off’.
Residents on our Memory Lane Community were joined by our Senior Activity Coordinator Charlotte, baking in the lifestyle kitchen ‘Chocolate and Caramel’ cupcakes.
While our Activity Lead Cherilyn baked downstairs with our residents of Sherwood Community ‘Raspberry Infused’ cupcakes.
Our General Manager Charles Sadler had the hard task of judging the final bakes, and our Memory Lane residents won the friendly competition.
Congratulations to all that took part and supporting the Alzheimer's Society.
