Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.
Emily Stubbs
I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!

Trip to Talkin Tarn
What a beautiful afternoon we all had!
Our residents decided we would have a trip to Talkin Tarn as they hadn’t been in while and what a day we picked, the sun was shining and it was such a nice afternoon. We enjoyed some refreshments while watching people in boats and the ducks swimming by. Everyone was so friendly and we got to see lots of different dogs.
Olympic Games
We had such a brilliant time doing some different games for our own Olympics afternoon. We had beach ball tennis, Chuck a duck and bean bag toss!
Everyone enjoyed their time playing the different games and the smiles on their faces says it all.
High Tea Afternoon
We enjoyed an afternoon of music, delicious homemade scones and cakes and the company of our friends at Eden Manor Care Home.
What a wonderful afternoon it was, there was singing, dancing and a lot of laughter. Meeting new friends and seeing friends we haven’t seen in a long time.
Outing to the school fete
We were extremely grateful for our pen pals to be invited to the school fete, they really enjoyed seeing all the children having fun! We got ice cream, pizza and to try the police uniform on.
Everyone had smiles on their faces and we are excited to see the children in September when they go back to school.
Thank you so much Newtown Primary School
Outing to Houghton Hall Garden Centre
Some of our residents with their family members enjoyed a trip to Houghton Hall. We enjoyed looking around at some of the beautiful items they have for sale and trying on some of the items. Then we enjoyed a delicious cake with a hot drink and the sun made an appearance!
