Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.

Emily Stubbs
I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lanercost House Care Home

A trip to the Seaside
June, Nesta, Janice, Ethel, Sylvia and staff from Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle have enjoyed a trip to the seaside.
We all had a lovely day at Silloth enjoying the scenery, talking to the locals, hot drinks in the cafe and then a delicious picnic prepared by the kitchen.
What lovely weather too!

National Beer Day
Residents and staff at Lanercost House have celebrated National Beer Day in style.
Everyone enjoyed tasting different beer along with a snack!
On June 15th, it’s National Beer Day! Which, as the name would suggest, is the day when we all raise a glass and say cheers to beer.
Surely one of the country’s favourite drinks, there’s nothing much better than sitting back on a sunny afternoon with a nice ice cold beer.

Happy Fathers Day
From all at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle Happy Father’s Day!
Today and every day, we honour and appreciate the fathers who fill our lives with love and laughter. Happy Father’s Day!

RAF Museum London
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

National Biscuit Day
It was a special day for all of us at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle, as we celebrated National Biscuit Day in style.
We certainly had a fun-filled day of biscuit dunking and tasting, paired with a good old cup of tea. Our residents got involved in a biscuit decorating activity and a chat about all things biscuits.
It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

Fun in the sun!
Residents and staff at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle recently have been enjoying time in the garden.
Residents and staff have been busy in the garden planting new plants , making sure they have been watered and just spending time relaxing in the garden with a cold glass of lemonade!
