10 Years of Service with Dawn

A huge congratulations & thank you to our wonderful Head Housekeeper, Dawn! Dawn officially celebrates 10 years of loyal service here at Latimer Court.

Dawn started at Barchester in January 2014, the year Latimer Court opened, and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year and continues to do so.

All of us here at Latimer Court are more than looking forward to many more years of working with Dawn! Congratulations!

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services, our residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action. We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.

Dementia Cafe with Worcester Warriors Foundation

This week, we wanted to get out and about and meet some new people, so we decided to pop down to the Worcester Warriors Foundation to their friendly Dementia Cafe. The Warriors team have been so friendly and welcoming, the cafe had great activities for our residents to join and it was also great to chat to others.

Worcester Warriors Foundation recently re-launched their Dementia Cafe, so we popped along to support them and see what new elements they had added. Our residents used to attend the cafe before, so they were very excited to get back.

We did activities such as painting and colouring, played some Jenga and did some music quizzes, and even had time for tea and biscuits! We've invited the Warriors team to our Dementia Cafe next time, as they will be extremely welcome at Latimer Court.

Celebrating Doris on her 105th Birthday!

Doris, our beautiful and delightful resident, celebrated her 105th Birthday today with family, friends and staff.

Doris also received many birthday cards from people she knew and the generosity of total strangers who wanted to send her wishes for this milestone birthday - we were blown away! She also received a birthday card from the Royal family too, signed by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

She enjoyed her delicious birthday cake and a performance by the Solo Dolly Show which everyone was able to enjoy! A wonderful celebration was had to honour Doris's special day. Happy Birthday Doris :)

Home donates to local charity

Latimer Court care home in Worcester recently presented its local charity with 150 shoeboxes with items to aid the homeless this winter. Maggs Day Centre do a fantastic job supporting local families and the local community. Latimer Court care home wanted to do all they could to help this deserving charity, especially in these challenging times, so they have been collecting food, toys, toiletries, clothing and other festive treats to gift to this deserving cause. All initiated by Care Assistant Lucie Haines who works at Latimer Court, Lucy originally wanted to pull together around 10 shoeboxes as she believed this would make more than a difference to the lives of those who attend the day centre. In the end, Latimer Court received enough donations to put together over 150 shoeboxes.
