Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Winnie the Pooh Day!

We enjoyed National Winnie the Pooh Day! Falling annually on the birthday of author A.A.Milne, this day is a tribute to the timeless stories and characters that have captured the hearts of readers for generations.

These adorable characters made a special visit to LBG today for our open day; welcoming friends old and new into the home for a taste-sensation journey through the Hundred Acre Wood!

Pizza Party

Residents were absolutely thrilled with their own homemade pizzas; each personalised with their toppings of choice, before being enjoyed together at our pizza party, with a cheeky glass of prosecco!

Home thank Activities team!

Staff and residents at Leeming Bar are celebrating National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, which takes place from January 20-24. Residents and staff wanted to thank the wonderful activities team at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of the residents living there.

National Activity Providers & Professionals Week is an annual event to support activity professionals and thank them for all the many different varied activities they provide to residents and patients.  Each and every member of the team at Leeming Bar Grange offer unique, tailored activities and entertainment to the residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this everyone at the home is truly grateful.

Residents enjoy visit from Santa & his elves

Our home got in the Christmas spirit by welcoming friends from Eastbourne Park Community Hub in Darlington, who sent Santa and his elves to the home to deliver Christmas gifts for residents.

General Manager, Katheryn Billett said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and it was so kind of Eastbourne Park Community Hub to come and see our residents.  It is so lovely to see them all getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s definitely my favourite time of year.”

Liz, one of our residents said: “It has been a lovely day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Christmas spirit. I really enjoyed seeing Santa.”

Sing and Smile

We welcomed Susan & David back into the home, also known as Sing and Smile..the most fitting of names for this wonderful duo!

Residents, loved ones, and the team couldn't help but don their dancing shoes and sing their hearts out to all the Christmas hits of the decades!

Christmas Jumper Day

Residents and staff at Leeming Bar are helping to make the world a better place by wearing a festival jumper on Thursday 15th December in aid of Save the Children’s annual fundraising event, Christmas Jumper Day.

All residents and staff  have been encouraged to buy, borrow or decorate their own special Christmas jumpers and donate to Save the Children. Some of the residents have been very creative and decorated their own glitzy knitwear with tinsel, stars, baubles and snowflakes
