Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Home celebrate National Elf Day

Staff at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home in Leeming Bar swapped their uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day in an effort to raise funds to help people living with dementia.

Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards finding a cure for dementia. From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits, anything goes – there’s snow better way to raise money to help beat dementia.

Visit to Ripon Cathedral's Advent Carol Service

One of our wonderful residents, Barbara, spoke about how lovely it would be to attend a carol concert in the lead up to Christmas.

So of course our life enrichment team ensured this wish would be possible with an outing to the Cathedral's Advent Carol Service & Procession.

A Christmas Carol

Across our homes we’ve had the most wonderful time celebrating the festive season with a special screening of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.

This beautifully staged production brought the magic of Dickens’ classic tale right into our homes.
A huge thank you to The Old Vic theatre for sharing this incredible performance with us. It was a truly wonderful experience.

Christmas Fete brings local community together

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Leeming Bar Grange to enjoy a wonderful Christmas Fete.  There were all kinds of stalls on offer manned by volunteers, friends and family and lots of local stall holders came along to sell their wares too.  There were delicious cakes and jams, lovely craft items, fabulous knitwear, the list goes on!   The team at Leeming Bar Grange would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either manned a stall, donated a raffle prize or who came along to support the home

Armistice Day with RAF

On Armistice Day we were very kindly visited by the incredible folk from RAF Leeming an afternoon of tea, cake, and Remembrance.

Residents were thrilled to be able to share memories of their own days serving in the military, and of brave loved ones, whilst also sharing gratitude with the younger generation of current serving personnel.

The Yorkshire Decibelles

Today we were treated to an extra special Tuesday Togetherness get-together, with a spellbinding performance from The Yorkshire Decibelles!

The choir passionately serenaded us with beautiful melodies of old classics, along with our first taste of festivities with Christmas Carols!
