Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Life at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Husband and wife, Dillwyn And Diane’s Wish
Husband and wife Dillwyn and Diane wished on our wishing washing line for a trip out together and of course we made it come true …
They wanted to go on a shopping trip to the range because they are both craft crazy and lunch out together at The sessile oak .
They sat chatting together for hours about all the fun times they have had over the years.
Easter Celebrations
Today we had Easter fun for everyone, with a fabulous show from Robbie Lee.
It was nice to have Robbie Lee back to sing with us today. The residents love singing along and dancing to music.
What better way to start celebrating Easter than with a good sing-a-long!
Also we celebrated a very happy birthday to Ellen! What an amazing day all around for everyone!
St David’s Day Celebrations
For our St David s day celebrations, we started the morning off with a traditional welsh breakfast of lamb sausage , welsh back bacon , cockles , laver bread and poached egg.
Entertaining was the very talented Chris Caine. The residents love hearing him sing.
For Lunch we had traditional welsh cawl with creamy mash and crusty rolls with welsh butter , followed by home-made welsh cakes from our hospitality team Julie and Catalina.
Our afternoon was finished off with a lovely visit from Pengelli Primary school with some lovely welsh songs that we all sung together.
Pamper Day!
Today we thought we would enjoy a pamper day for all the residents. We had animal face masks and gave them a nice relaxing hand massage, with zen music in the back ground to help make it a little more relaxed.
The residents found the animal face masks funny. It was all fun and everyone thoroughly enjoyed and can’t wait to do this again.
Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful mums today at Llys-Y-Tywysog, residents and staff.
This afternoon we invited you here with us to celebrate with your loved ones.
We had beautiful home-made cakes and sandwiches from our hospitality team Darren and Julie
Everyone had a lovely afternoon celebrating with their families.
Peek a boo! We see you!
This was our first baby therapy group this morning, with the stars of the show Arthur, Leon and Olivia who came to visit us here at Llys-Y-Tywysog. Residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing the children play, having smiles on the children’s faces put smiles on our residents faces. Intergenerational sessions like these are proven to improve the well-being of both residents and toddlers, and providing opportunities for well-being is our priority at Barchester. We look forward to welcoming back our young friends for another visit!
