Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Carole Hierons

Activities Lead and Speak Up Champion

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.

I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.

My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Intergenerational Pen Pal Scheme

Residents at Lydfords have started an intergenerational pen pal scheme with our local school East Hoathly Church of England Primary School and Nursery.

They have been exchanging stories and really enjoy getting such lovely notes and cheerful cards from the children.

Thank you to our Lydfords activities coordinator's and the teachers at the school for their support to make this happen!

Fluffy Easter Chick Arrivals

At Lydfords we have all been waiting patiently for the last couple of weeks for cracks to appear on the duck eggs. Yesterday afternoon residents reported hearing chirping and movement from the eggs.

This morning residents of Lydfords woke up to two very fluffy new arrivals!

Eating & drinking for enjoyment & health

At Lydfords we pride ourselves in ensuring that we know what each of our residents like and what they need and we know how important that is when it comes to eating and drinking for enjoyment, as well as health. Our locally sourced meat and vegetables are freshly prepared and cooked on the premises, on the day, by our qualified and highly experienced chefs.

Village Show Visit

At Lydfords we love to encourage our residents to continue to be a part of the local community.

This weekend some of our residents with a keen interest in horticulture attended the Village Spring Show, supported by carer Rose, they particularly enjoyed looking at the floral displays.

Flower donation from Waitrose

Today we had a wonderful donation of all these beautiful blooms from Waitrose. Lydfords looks likes a florists with all these joyful flowers!
