Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Lydfords Care Home
Employee of the Month - Tony - Head of Maintenance
Congratulations to Lydfords Care Home Employee of the Month, Tony Scott - Head of Maintenance.
Thank you for keeping the grounds and building safe and beautiful, as well as being our minibus driver, making sure residents continue to get out and about in the wider community.
Garden Easter Hunt
Thank you very much to the children from East Hoathly that came along to our garden Easter Hunt today before they break up for the Easter Holidays.
Our residents had been making these baskets over the last week for the childrens goodies, and very much enjoyed seeing all the smiling faces in the garden!
Birthday Celebrations
Birthdays are always cause for a celebration at Lydfords.
Today, Chef Enrico made this fabulous cake so we could wish a very Happy Birthday to resident Jennifer!
Mothers Day
On Mother's Day we hosted a special afternoon tea in our private dining room for one of our residents and her family.
Her daughters said:
"Thank you so much for mums Mother’s Day tea. It was absolutely wonderful. Harry you are an amazing chef and even made mums favourite butterscotch pie recipe which took us all back to happy childhood memories .
Lydfords is such a wonderful, caring place and the staff are very special people. We are very lucky to have mum here."
We hope everyone had a special day yesterday.
Spring Lambs
Making connections with the community is very important to us as a home. Thank you very much to East Hoathly Church of England Primary School and Nursery for having Lydfords residents along to see their lovely spring lambs, and for the fabulous Easter cards & letters from the school children, they brought us all lots of joy.
St Patricks Day
Yesterday, residents at Lydfords enjoyed a special al fresco St Patrick's Day lunch of Dublin rarebit on home-made soda bread, Irish stew and mini Guinness cakes, in the sunshine, set to the backdrop of the beautiful South Downs.
