Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Volunteer appreciation week 2022
A time to say thanks!
Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
We would like to say a big Thank You to Karen, our volunteer at Lydfords, for making our residents smile!
Queens Green Canopy
As part of the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Lydfords have planted a tree for the #queensgreencanopy . The Queen's Green Canopy is an initiative that began in May 2021 in the United Kingdom in honour of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. To increase and protect the native tree cover, people are being urged to create this 'special gift' for the Queen, to mark her 70 years on the throne.
Residents chose a fruit bearing cherry tree, which can be enjoyed by the residents for years to come.
Employee of the month - Lydfords receptionist Julia
A big congratulations to our Employee of the Month - Lydfords receptionist Julia!
Residents, relatives and fellow team members said "Julia is the most friendly, smiley and helpful person, always willing to lend a hand to any one that needs it"
Thank you for all you do Julia, we hope you'll enjoy your prosecco, flowers and voucher!
Rainbow Run sponsorship for St Wilfrids Hospice
The teams from Barchesters Lydfords and Mortain Place did a great job at manning the "Groovy Green" Barchester paint station today at the Rainbow Run in support of St Wilfrids Hospice, such a wonderful day and lots of money raised for a very worthy cause!
Stop & smell the roses
Taking time to stop and smell the roses.
Some of Lydfords residents took a trip in our minibus to Staverton Nursery in Halland this week to choose some roses for our beautiful country gardens.
Whole Home Approach
At Lydfords we use a 'whole home approach' - this means all team members get involved with joining in with activities with residents.
Here, Chef Enrico and Senior Carer Ellie, help two residents with sorting the pieces for a puzzle, whilst all enjoying the sunshine and chatting together, in our lovely large country garden.
