Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Lydfords Care Home
Nova School Of Dance Perform
What a special visit we had from the wonderful dancers at Nova School Of Dance.
Residents and the local community took their seats in the garden ready for the performance to start. The dancers did several routines from different genres and residents were thrilled to see the children perform so beautifully.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and always lovely to see how well the dancers are doing.
Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare
We had a lovely morning trip to Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare.
We took advantage of the lovely weather. Popped down to take a scroll and see some of their lovely animals followed by tea and cake in their cafe.
A Special Trip To The Shops
Pamela mentioned to the lifestyle team that she missed the simple task of catching a bus into town, doing some shopping and having a coffee.
So Carole organised an impromptu bus journey to Uckfield town today. The pair went shopping and of course, stopped off for a latte and cake. We're so fortunate to be able to offer those one on one moments for our residents. Both Carole and Pam had a great afternoon.
Our Very Own Chelsea Flower Show
Inspired by The Chelsea flower show, we ventured down to our pavilion to do some flower arranging. We all had such a wonderful afternoon and created some award winning displays.
Scam Awareness Talk
Last night we were joined by two Police Community Support Officers who provided a very informative Scams awareness talk at Lydfords.
Residents found it very useful, especially the information relating to password protection and online banking safety. Many of our residents use their ipads or desktops to manage their affairs, so remaining safe is a priority of theirs.
Arlington Bluebell Walk
What a lovely trip we have had to the wonderful Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail, where we previously delivered some home made cakes for their charity tea room.
Some of our residents rented mobility scooters so we could go exploring in the gorgeous bluebell woodland. We had such a lovely morning. We stopped in to see their sheep and goats, plus a pit stop to have tea and cake.
