Activities at Magnolia Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our Activities Coordinators work as a team by involving staff and relatives in the activities sessions. They implement and plan activities tailored to residents' likes, dislikes, beliefs and life stories. Lots of people choose to place loved ones in Magnolia Court because of our reputation for hosting great activities all year long!

Activities Coordinator Lead

Hello I am Tammie and I joined Barchester in December 2019 as an Activities assistant and in February 2022 I became the Activities Lead at Magnolia Court Care Home. I am passionate about my role at Magnolia Court, I am a people person and nothing makes me happier than putting a smile on our Residents faces. It is a joy to work with such a great team, I am very happy to be a part of team Magnolia and look forward to meeting you soon!

Life at Magnolia Court Care Home

Sukkot celebrations.

Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur. Sukkot celebrates the gathering of the harvest.Rabbi Yossi Simon, visited Magnolia Court and led us for #Sukkot celebrations. Residents, joined by their loved ones and member's of the team participated for shaking the #lullav, a closed frond of the date palm tree and #etrog, a yellow citron. Dried fruits and nuts were served together with wine as part of the Sukkot celebrations tradition. 

Magnolia Court residents receive a Highly Commended Prize

Magnolia Court residents receive a Highly Commended Prize at the Silver Sunday CelebrationsBack in September Magnolia Court were invited to enter an art competition run by Napa Art in Care Homes.Residents submitted their art work and were delighted to receive and invite to attend the Silver Sunday event on Sunday 6th October 2024 at Middlesex University and over the moon to find out they had won a Highly Commended Prize for their beautiful Sunflower art work.Silver Sunday is a national day where people of all generations can come together for fun activities for older people. It is a day where older people can meet new people, visit new places, try new activities and connect with their local communities and the generations around them.Age UK Barnet sponsored the prizes and the award was presented by The #MayorofBarnetGary, a resident at Magnolia Court said "It was a lovely colorful day, we really enjoyed it. The dancing was amazing but the best part was receiving the award. Thank you to all those who took part."The Sunflower art work has taken pride of place and at Edgeware library and will be displayed for all to see.

Jocelyn celebrates 10 years long service award

This week Jocelyn Ferrer, Unit Lead at Magnolia Court celebrates her 10 years long service award with Barchester HealthcareJocelyn has been a nurse and Unit Lead at Barchester Healthcare since 2014 and has work at a number of the homes as well as run and has also won an award for running a dementia care service. Magnolia Courts residents and team members were delighted to celebrate with Jocelyn and thank her for all her hard work and dedication.Congratulations Jocelyn and thank you.

Crohns and Colitis talk with DR James Holt.

Thank you to all those who joined us on Tuesday evening for the Crohns and Colitis talk with DR James Holt. I am sure you will agree it was a very interesting and informative talk.Dr James spoke about his journey as both a patient with Crohn’s and a doctor, and the charity he volunteers for @Crohn’sandColitisUK who support patients across the country. It's sherry o'clock!

It's sherry o'clock at Magnolia Court, as some of the residents enjoyed a tipple before lunch. Some sipped a Sherry and some opted for a Bailey's while Tammie, our lifestyle coordinator quizzed us with general knowledge questions.Cheers everyone!

Residents at Magnolia Court were delighted when lovely 5 year old Scooby came to visit, accompanied by Des from Performing Pets. 

What a lovely surprise it was to see Scooby trotting around our lovely home! Scooby visited residents in their rooms and brought a smile to everyone's face. Magnolia Court was full of cuddles and smiles. It is always a special day when animals come to visit.

Upcoming events

Egg-citing April activities!

From a history talk and Easter egg hunt to visits to the Tate Britain gallery and a local pub, there is lots to do for our residents this month!

Cheese and wine information evening

Enjoy a selection of delicious cheese and wine at Magnolia Court on 27th May 5.30pm. Local organisations including finance, legal and health will be providing information. 

Hearing Aid Clinic

We are working with the local Deaf Association to provide a free regular hearing aid clinic which includes hearing aid fitting and maintenance. Contact us for information and booking.

Community Afternoon Tea

Join us at Magnolia Court on the first Wednesday of each month for an afternoon of live music and delicious cakes and pastries prepared by our own in-house chef! Booking required.

Memory Support Group

Age UK are now running weekly Memory Support Groups at Magnolia Court for people with cognitive impairments. For more information please contact us. 

Carer Support Group

Come along to our monthly friendly carer support group for discussions with other carers and healthcare professionals. Tea, coffee and home-made cakes served.
