Activities at Magnolia Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our Activities Coordinators work as a team by involving staff and relatives in the activities sessions. They implement and plan activities tailored to residents' likes, dislikes, beliefs and life stories. Lots of people choose to place loved ones in Magnolia Court because of our reputation for hosting great activities all year long!

Life at Magnolia Court Care Home

Park life.

We are very lucky to have such wonderful parks in close proximity from our home. Making the most of the gorgeous weather we decided to visit the local park, catch some rays, have a walk and then finish off our visit with a cup of tea and an ice cream. We also had fun watching the many dogs that were out for dog walks which then had residents reminiscing of their own dogs and the ones they used to have.

Finding Peggy's bowling buddies.

Peggy "Margaret" O’Reilly, is one of the wonderfully talented residents at Magnolia Court Care home and we are helping Peggy re connect with some of her friends from her Bowling Days at Childs Hill Park Granville Road NW2 2AT.

Peggy lived in Crewys Road, very close to Childs hill Park and started Bowling during the 1980’s with her sister Bridie. They played together for many years until Peggy's sister, Bridie, sadly passed away in 2006. Peggy won many trophies as you can see in the photo

Peggy said "We used to play indoor in the winter and travelled to competitions to several clubs. I miss my bowling days and it would be lovely to catch up with anyone that remembers the Childs Hill Bowling Club."

Peggy also is qualified as a Tai chi trainer and run a club at St Agnes center for 46years as a charity. We are contacting local bowls club to see if we can track her buddies down so we can arrange a game. Let us know if you think you can help?

The history of the RAF

RAF Guest Speaker

We had a wonderful afternoon recently when Guest speaker, Rhiannon from the The Royal Air Force Museum London came to visit us.

As some of you might be aware resident Stuart has close ties to the royal air force and this was an especially poignant afternoon for him. Rhiannon talked us through the entire history of the RAF and we loved to hear the stories of men and women who made history.

It was a wonderfully insightful and interesting afternoon and everyone listened intently.

We were also delighted when Rhiannon gifted Stuart a bag of special RAF memorabilia.

Thank you again to The Royal Air Force Museum London for taking the time to come and see us.

Royal Ascot at Magnolia Court

Royal Ascot

Residents enjoyed celebrating Royal Ascot. Activities included a 'Best Hat' competition, observing the arrival of the royal guests and an afternoon of singing & dancing to the live entertainment by our friend Johnny Jazz.

As part of the home’s ‘Royal Ascot Week’, residents were immersed in the excitement and traditions of the local community while creating cherished memories with their loved ones.

Anyone for tennis?

Wimbledon!

We are having a fun time following the #Wimbledon #tennis tournament.

Our tennis fans were delighted to watch the famous matches virtually from the comfort of their armchairs and we even had a private match amateur match from deputy manager John and Anthony who is one of our beloved relatives. Anthony was also happy to give us a mini tennis masterclass and he also shared some lovely stories and some tips on how to up your tennis game.

A trip to the RAF Museum for International Museum.

To celebrate International Museum we took a trip to the RAF Museum.

We took our minibus and had a fun-filled day exploring the museum and its rich collections and items. Our residents had a great time and we all agreed that a visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth and meaning in our lives.

A great time was had by all. But especially nostalgic for resident Stuart as he was an RAF pilot during WW2. He was so proud to take a photo with his aircraft “The Lancaster”.

If you would like to come with us on our next adventure, please contact us directly on 0208 731 9881 or go to our reception to sign up!
