Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Courtney Doncaster

Activities Coordinator

My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.

I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity  to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.

We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

,

National Grandparents Day

Yesterday was National Grandparents Day. Our residents, most of which are grandparents and some even great grandparents, always have fascinating stories to tell and have a heart warming background.

To celebrate we thought we would share some with you through ‘These hands’. We hope you find them as interesting as we do.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

CARE HOME HAS A ‘LATTE’ FUN AT MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Staff and residents at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home held a charity coffee morning and bake sale on 27th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

Octoberfest Celebrations

We transformed our dining room into a lively German festival, complete with authentic German beer and refreshments. We were joined by the wonderful U3A guitar group who yet again put on an amazing performance for all to dance and sing a long too.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!

Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

Cheese and Wine Evening - Yes please!

Staff, residents and family have enjoyed an evening of delicious cheese eating and wine drinking. We had a selection of cheeses from Stilton to smoked, followed by delicious wines, good music and company.
